No mate, not normal

weird isnt it, sometimes the mojo just Flows ![]()
The Bushy Park results have just come out. 6200 finishers!
I seem to have been moved up about 150 places and instead of finishing with the old man, Iāve ended up beating him by 8 seconds. Tbh, Iām surprised they are even that accurate. An insane number of finishers sub 18, too.
Some super impressive stats coming out.
47 runners under 17
103 under 18
350 under 20
I should have turned up earlier - would have been plenty of pacers for something quick!
My best parkun time by far this year was at my only visit to Bushy. I know itās not a race but it is, it really is. I just love the all out effort in a single lap - so nobody else to overtake/lap and itās just you and the people around you.
We might go along to the 20th Anniversary. Could be an ideal day for me to tick off my 250th run at Bushy. Iām now firmly a Bognor Regis parkrunner now though with 357 runs there to my name.
If Iād got bumped up 150 places at Winchester, I would have come first and finished at 8.45am ![]()
October isnāt it?
Give a shout if you do - will try and meet up again!
Local trail run again, actually got there early enough to do a 3K warmup with 1.5k at target pace around 4:30/K
Plan was loosely the same pace for a tempo workout and in the ballpark for a 97 minute 70.3 run
Wasnāt far off with 22:05 but my HR was really high, not far off max although I felt comfortable. Iām putting it down to the conditions, it was really muggy and humid.
Young lad went off like it was a 1k race! Apparently he did a long 17 which is good going on that course.
I had a bit of a calf twinge yesterday, so I backed right off once LO kicked at the end.
24.05 for me and 23.42 for LO.
Had looked at the tide timetables & everything looked good for me to get a sea swim in at Prestatyn before doing the Parkrun.
But I slept in.
Made it to Wepre - my local - for the first time this year.
Somehow managed to -ve split the first 2 small loops & the following 2 bigger loops which I was chuffed with & time was pretty much what I normally manage.
Was pipped by a JM11-14, but smashed him in the age grading which as we all know is the only true measure of success
.
Yeah, just wait until the little git has had a lifetime of beer, working and Ironman ![]()
First run with any type of focus since Feb and my stress fracture.
Wasnāt as bad as I thought it might be.
Nice pacing and the HR did go up to reasonable levels.
Just need find a minute per mile now
Volunteering today as Iām racing tomorrow, did the course before though.
Think itās my 25th volunteering ![]()
24.16 for me and 23.51 for LO. She was beaten by a ring-in from Aldershot, first time sheās not taken 1st in JW10 when sheās been āon oneā for a few years!
That girl from Aldershot was bloody flying and looked to be at least a year younger. Good lesson for LO, thereās always someone faster, somewhere!
It mas muggy AF today. 98th for LO but sheāll have to wait for the big 100 an extra week because Iāll be away for NC110.
I recently got my best time for 10 yrs with a 19:11 at Lincoln, and an AG over 80% for the first time. well chuffed wi that
WTF! ![]()
I always do parkRace* flat out even if Iām racing on the Sunday.
Or an IM 150 miles away on Sat eves in the case of Midnight Man! (yes I drove there btw, didnt cycle
)
āLuckilyā I was just late to the start of the lovely Colby parkRace near Tenby, so didnāt spaff much energy, as there was no chance of wading through the back markers on the narrow trail.
oh, and I cycled there obvs

I was chatting to a first timer (at Bognor) on Saturday morning prior to the start and she looked pretty fit/speedy. She also looked a little older than myself so wondered if sheād made the ideal choice starting on the front line.
This wasnāt a problem - she finished fourth overall in 20 minutes dead. Our (Bognor Regis) course is easily 30 seconds slower than a fast course because of tight turns and overtaking on the multiple laps but she was quick.
Turns out sheās VW60-64 and got an age grade of over 95%
She ran a localish parkrun (Worthing) earlier this month in 19:01 for an age grade of 100.61% ![]()
wow!!! The AG formula is a bit squiffy and over biased to wimmin if you can get a score over 100% tho surely!! ?
I think as you get older the calculations are less accurate as there arenāt as many people pushing for official world records (where the age grade scores are calculated from) so there are some examples of over 100%. Hereās another example, but with a maleā¦
179% haha ![]()
