I’d originally planned to go a bit further afield this morning but couldn’t be bothered when I got up
So I went to the local one by the coast and thought I’d try and get under 21 minutes.
Started off a bit quicker around 20 pace last 2k are usually into a breeze but it was pretty calm today. I was mostly running on my own but dug in and came home about 20:20 in the end.
Fairly pleased given current fitness but would have struggled to go much faster.
Still very nervous about running hard though in case it triggers the leg again.
Left home a few bit earlier today to run via toolstation to pick up a new extractor fan for the utility room. Good solid parkrun (about 20:35) so happy with that.
A chap collapsed post run and it all kicked off. Thankfully one of our regular runners is a paramedic and together with a few others made full use of the parkrun defib before the two ambulances, two paramedic cars and a police car turned up. The chap is now in hospital. When he came round at the park apparently he asked if he’d scanned his barcode
Hopefully he’ll make a full recovery and if it wasn’t for the defib then today could have had a very different outcome.
Back in January 2018 a lady called Tracie collapsed and died at Swindon parkrun (as it was known back then). I wasn’t at the event, it was only later that year that I started to parkrun most weeks.
Tourism for me today and in a UNESCO World Heritage Site at Roberts Park in Saltaire.
Had a bit of a panic on the way there when the canal towpath was closed and I didn’t have my phone but could see the mill, managed to get in and followed someone who knew where he was going.
There were pacers on so I thought I’d stick with 22 knowing things were going to be tough after giving blood last Sunday. He was a bit sharp in the first 2k but got it right after. About 1K to go I went past him but the legs were heavy and a few came past.
Finished in 21:40 and top 50, it was a popular event, over 600 people.
Nice little park as well and the towpath looked clear from there so probably going for an easy run tomorrow morning.
It was Winchester’s 500th today, so we were set off by the Mayor no less!
810 runners today, more than I’ve ever seen there. LO ran a 23.10 and came 140th and 15th female overall.
I pulled up a bit tight again, so jogged the last km in for a 24.24
