Parkrun

Planned to take it easier today as my long term dodgy knee has been hurting more the past two weeks so I’m trying to be sensible.

Within 5 seconds of the start my sensibility went out of the window and through the first k in just over 4 minutes. Hung on for dear life and was only overtaken by one person (pushing a buggy :joy:).

19:59 and my fastest time in two months. Conditions were perfect - cool with no wind whatsoever.

Nice, how’s the knee?

Felt ok - as in I could feel it but no more than usual and has been ok all afternoon. That’s good.

So my FiL ran yesterday(as he does every week ) - on Friday he celebrated his 88th birthday . He managed 53 mins - back in the day he was 2:38 marathon runner and a 52 min 10 miles . He’s pretty impressive and consistent- it took me a long time to finally start passing him .

Sneaky cameo in the background for myself and LO at about 1:16

Hadn’t realised there was a queue to finish later on. We were on our way to the coffee shop by then.

Bloody hell, she’s 13!

This was at Bushy 1000th, insane crowds.

Enjoyed watching that, thanks FP :+1:
The best thing about it all, was that it looks like Poppy enjoys running …good on her and I wish her all the luck in the world❤

It’s great isn’t it. Poppy has a really good style, she just seems to bounce along!
Also impressive was how confidently she spoke. Maturity above her years IMO.

Only just got to the start in time today after messing around and the roads being quite rough.

As mentioned on the other thread it was heavy but wet snow with a covering in some places but it’s a trail run and I’ve seen worse.

Pace wasn’t great but I wasn’t pushing too hard as a few disappeared into the distance.

Got round in just over 23 minutes but only 62 starters today, usually about 150.

There was a few that had come from a local cancelled run and started late as well.

Forced myself out though and the weather wasn’t terrible, just had a thin jacket and merino hat on.

Post race slushy pic.

My mate drove from Bolton to do my local one ( he’s getting into cross country (sicko) and worden is a mud fest in winter )
Badgering me to run with him, but he’s 10 % faster than me and yesterdays long bike ( row ) is still in the legs and hard one tomorrow so jogged him on

He got there and they cancelled it ! Lol.

Grim day here

Dragged myself out to Kingston ParkRun. Took the car instead of riding. Had to park about 400m from the start so very easy jog and pulled my calf in the process. Turned round and walked back to the car. Outstanding.

Sorry to hear that mate. I’m out and about in the car and might head to Loomies, come and console yourself with a cup of salmonella

Thanks mate. Would do but sat on my sofa and staring at my phone until going out later. Will get over there soon.

Local one was on and was fine. It is prone to being windy at times, so while being windy this morning it’s been much worse before. Not too wet either, puddles were just medium.

My first run in 3 weeks after going over on my ankle at the first XC race of the season. Fitness has been on the decline, not helped by 3 weeks in new job.

Started steady somewhere between 22 & 25 min pacers and steadily picked up the pace a bit. In the finishing straight heard someone storming up behind me, and encouraged by shouts from our local YouTube legend filming I got caught up in a sprint. Just held them off.

Ankle felt good but twinged a couple of times on uneven ground. Don’t think I’ll be doing next week’s XC, but a week is a long time …:joy:

It was pacer week again and I asked if they needed any when I got there and decided to go for 25 as there’s not many people around 23 at this one.

Anyway, I think it was harder than 23 as I was trying not to get dragged along. Soon settled into 5 minute K’s but there weren’t many people around me. With about a K to go two that had been close went past and a few that were well back started closing. Finished in 24:55 so got it right overall.

Still finished 19th as well!

I’m back up in my old stomping ground for a family funeral yesterday so got out for the Carlingwark Loch Parkrun this morning.

Pretty flat, but not a fast course. About 25% on grass, lots of tight corners & the tarmac sections were quite greasy with the drizzle.

Had a word with the organiser & he was kind enough to clock me at 19:59 .

Asked around at the end to see if any local runners left school the same time as me :older_adult: but couldn’t find any :slightly_frowning_face:.
