Parkrun

Thanks, there’s someone at work with a 7mth old baby, hes recently got a running pram and will do the same Parkrun, so a bit of friendly competition will be good. He is a lot better runner than I am though, he’s done it in 19mins without pram and 24mins with.

You need a better pram, or maybe a better course, I was less than a minute different

Did he stop to change the tire? :joy:

In my experience the difference is under 2 minutes, but of course depends on the course. Did once do a Christmas Day one that Chippenham which involved 2 laps round a really muddy field and I was wearing road shoes, that’s a one was a challenge.

I followed someone with a pushchair some weeks ago around our local twisty turny course and he probably ran 20/21 minutes. It was impressive seeing him navigate round some of the bends and lifting one of the back wheels up at times depending on what he was doing.

He’s not had it long, so he’s probably still getting used to it. I’ve found I’m about 20s per km slower over 10-12k slower with it.

Steep uphills are the worst, with my fitness not being great, and I’m probably a bit more careful going down steep hills. On the flat it takes no effort, gentle down hills it might even be a benefit as it feels like it pulls me along.

I’ll try again next Saturday and see if starting further forward helps. Sprinting past slow groups in the first 1500m didn’t help.

Did Graves (Sheffield) again this morning, started further forward to avoid getting held up and felt like I paced it better.

My work colleague joined me - I spotted him heading home from a morning 10k with his baby in pram, so he decided to extend his run and join us.

Last week I did 26.29, this week 25.10, so a decent improvement. Colleague followed me for the first lap, came past and beat me by 35secs at the end.

We were the first 2 prams I think, which was good. A sub-24.00 is definitely doable this year, with some more training.

Glorious weather at Bushy today. Turned up around 18 minutes late and had a nice cruise round with my girl in the buggy.

Club mate spotted Alex Yee at Bromley Parkrun.

That really is a great pic

Decent run for me, taken 6-8 months but worked down from 22:30 to an 18:42 today. Not expecting to ever get back in 16:XX shape but would expect to break 18 in the summer, especially if switch to a tarmac course.

Now for a nice restful shift at work while everyone else is peacefully enjoying the ‘alcohol-free’ parade for the football winners

My feet have been behaving themselves for the last 5 weeks so thought I’d see if I could get around Kingston PR. Was planning to run walk but took it steady and got round in a smidge over 25. Rather lovely running pain free.

It was a Harry Potter themed parkrun at our local one today in memory of someone’s niece who passed away last year.

My wife and her mum were park walkers with the eldest two in Harry Potter fancy dress.

I had the youngest in the buggy, first time I’ve run with it for a while. Slight struggle to even get him into it at the start, but thankfully a bottle of milk soon settled him and it wasn’t long before he was asleep. Not sure how is it’s a pretty bumpy surface.

Went quite quick at the start to find some gaps, then had to try and hold on, so was a pretty hard effort for 22:00.

Was then sent on a food and drink order to deliver to the park walkers. They were discussing how many more times they’d see Jim on his cool down.

Ended up outside the cafe having bacon sandwiches and a jacket potato for breakfast :joy:

I wasn’t there but LO has pulled off a huge PB, knocking 47 secs off for a 22.03! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I guess mine might be slightly older than yours but she ‘sang’ the whole way around. Renditions of twinkle, twinkle little start and Ra Ra the noisy lion on repeat.

She never bloody sleeps in the buggy, won’t in the car either, stubborn little bugger.

She’d have been breathing down my neck this morning if we were in the same place. That’s superb.

I love it when I see “youngsters” set off quick and then don’t blow up.

Showed my kids, they liked it too! :+1:

Sadly I wasn’t down there but a bunch of PWR got a great snap too.

You need to be asking for triple wages for that shift! The night shift will be carnage

He must be a bit younger, or otherwise they’ve developed at very different rates  He’s just started become a right chatter box where we can make out a fair bit of what he’s saying. Though I still always seem to put on the wrong TV show. He’s been the first one that’s been into the Wiggles… I’d never heard of them before. Bet FP is all over them!

Car and buggy almost always gets him off to sleep, which I guess is mainly a blessing, except for the times when it means he goes to sleep too early and means we’ll be paying for it later.
