Parkrun

That even rivals “lake victoria” at Warrington parkrun.

Our local celebrated its 15th birthday, notable because it was the first parkrun in the south west. the press were there, one reporter ran round with a mic. I passed her around 3k after I saw her interviewing someone up ahead, who must have been going about 22min pace.

The keen sports photographer made a return, and from the comment on one of his photos I now know @JibberJim is aka Mr Non-Stop. I’m going to assume that relates to his cool down loops every week, or maybe she knows him better than I do :joy:

I tweaked my calf on Tuesday so probably shouldn’t have run, even though I took it easy the calf was grumbling even more afterwards.

I see no such comment! Obviously I needed to check who was making it to know the context…

I’m blocked from it! But I can see like 350 photos from yesterday!

Changes afoot (boom boom)

Due to childcare issues I left the house at 9am this morning, still made the start line with time to spare. Calf still not good so took it easy for a 22:55, but despite that still built up a sweat, maybe the black non-technical t shirt wasn’t the best choice.

I’m approaching 250 runs very soon and currently sit on 46 volunteer credits, if I pull my finger out I plan to hit the 250 and 50 volunteers on the same day. I’ve volunteered in 8 different roles so quite fancy adding 2 new ones to get a meaningless badge on an unofficial app

Never been tempted to write the report, but wondered what ChatGPT could do, so tried it as a test on today’s results. Unfortunately it copied lots of last weeks report including all the numbers and finishers.

Maybe somewhere else, but that pic reminds me of futilely chasing GB’s retreating form on a stormy January day at Seaton?? Running on the shingle was interesting.

That was grim!

Back on the tourist trail today with a trip to Rotherham. Decent little park with just over 3 laps but a bit undulating.

Decided to put a bit more effort in than usual and got off to a decent start before finding the drag back uphill :grimacing:

Seemed to be a gap either side of me and the third lap got quite busy having to overtake people on the grass. I saw the finish line and decided with a sprint I might get under 21.

20:56 and 11th place. Useful little workout as I haven’t had any hard efforts for nearly 3 weeks.

I think it’s my local run has its 100th event next week so will try and get there.

LO ran Winchester yesterday with Mrs FP. She had a PB for the course at 22.59 but I’m sure she’s gone faster there by a couple of secs (do the PBs expire?)

I said 'did you run with Mum? and she said ‘yes, for about five seconds’

PBs don’t expire. I had one that lasted for almost a decade!

I did Tailwalking at juniors today and made a bit of a mess of it, which before doing it I wouldn’t have thought was possible. Found myself walking very slowly behind a girl with her mum from the very start to around 700m and they/we were a long way behind anyone else. At which point I met a Marshall I knew from 20 years ago and got chatting with her, and hence was a bit distracted. Got to 1km mark and noticed the girl I’d been following was probably 300m ahead, I’d missed the fact she’d started running! I had to run past about 4 marshals to catch up with them.

I’d not accounted for the erratic nature of kids.

Anyone here local to Moors Valley parkrun? Might be heading there on Saturday as I’m in the area.

Turns out it wasn’t my local events 100th run today, only 98. But I still went and also did the first timers briefing.

Felt like hard work on the warm up but started off doing what felt like a reasonable pace and it felt tough, on the way back I thought I was maybe close to a PB but looked at the watch when it buzzed for 4K and was miles off!

It was really humid and the air felt heavy, a few I spoke to thought it felt tougher than the conditions which were quite mild.

Anyway, 21:52, did a 3k CD which also felt grim :joy:

Did my first Parkrun today, Graves Park in Sheffield. Haven’t been back to training for long (started 9 weeks ago with 2 lots of 10 days off due to illness) ran it with our toddler in the pram: 4.5k there, Parkrun, 4.5k back. Did 26.29, so hoping to get sub 25, or better still sub 24 this year, though that could be a bit optimistic.

Good work that with a pram
