Gave it some welly this morning and ran my quickest since late January. 20:42 but it was bloody hard work.

Got a local 10km race next Sunday (one of my favourite races which I’ve not done for two years due to injury) and have no idea how I’ll pace it and what my target might be. Maybe 44 mins….

10km low-mid 43’

Low 43 if you’d been 10k training, how is the endurance, enough in the legs to not fade?

I never 10k train. Endurance at that pace I’m not so sure about either. Maybe I’ll just make a call on the day based on the weather!

Went to the quicker parkrun today as I’m trying to do a few weeks of running before the half marathon, but it was windy and cold

Aim was to hold 4:10K’s, pacing isn’t my strong point and the Garmin current pace can be a bit inaccurate.

First was a bit quicker but started getting a bit better but still too fast  clung on and ended up with 4:04K’s and final time of 20:30 as it’s slightly long.

Pleased but it was hard work today, but I did do quite a hard Zwift race last night.

Was only good enough for 30th, quite a decent field out today, winner was probably in the 15’s!

Crikey, just had a look at the results from this morning, clearly a northerly makes it a fast day, 8 PB’s in the top 18 and a few others further down, but it does mean you get a bit of assistance up the drag.

A JW11-14 came second with the same time as a lad I know who I think might have been pacing with her as I saw them warming up, both finished in 16:31! She got a 96% age grading :exploding_head: if she continues that trajectory she’s going to be winning a lot of races at a good level.

Was feeling a bit tired this morning and a couple of groans from the leg so decided to do the local trail run at a steady pace instead. It had rained quite a bit overnight so actually a few puddles with the ground being so hard and dry.

Picked things up a little bit during the run and finished in 22:39, hopefully not far off 70.3 pace but we’ll see.

Very muggy and humid though.

That was parkrun 190, should reach 200 around September I think due to other races and comittments.

I was a Parkwalker volunteer, today. Got chatting to a lovely lady doing her first one with a group of friends; all cancer survivors. Quite humbling talking to them.

LO and Mrs FP both have the sniffles, so Mum and I went to Burnham.

I started at the back, walked the whole thing ā€˜at paceā€. Bloody hell walking fast is hard!

I think I may have just snuck under 40mins

I decided to do Harrogate this morning before doing the 25 later. Bit of a dull course tbh with 3 laps around the stray and about 40% on track/grass. But another Yorkshire course ticked off.

Started following the 22 minute pacer as I’d planned to take it steady and couldn’t see a 21 pacer :joy: he went a bit sharp and after the first K I pushed past a bit and my idea of steady went

Was a struggle all the way but there was a decent breeze and pretty humid, not sure why the legs were so dead :man_shrugging:t2:

Anyway, gritted my teeth for 21:19 which is hopefully half marathon pace, and given the course and normal trainers! Although it was slightly short.

Not sure the 25 will be much fun!

Edit: decent size event with over 600 people, no wonder lap 3 was crowded with passing people!

Part way through the run brief at our local (Bognor Regis) there was a call for medical help as a runner collapsed/fainted. There was plenty of medical help (great) and an ambulance was called. I offered to wait by the main road to guide the ambulance in. About 15 minutes later someone I was with noticed that the runners must have started and had completed the first smaller loop of our four lap course.

We then headed to the start and played a game of catch up from a lap behind. I ran about 21 minutes on my watch and got an official time of 24:09.

When I left at about 10am ish the ambulance hadn’t yet arrived but the chap was being well looked after.

Nice. How many did you pass?

Good question… There were 351 finishers. I was 75th. So I passed 276.

I guess it was only a matter of time before paddleboarders had their Parkrun equivalent….

I stayed local this morning as I had a massage booked at 10:30, recent rain has made it a bit softer with the odd dirty patch and puddle.

Was still sluggish and started off fairly steady around 4:33K’s but did pick it up a bit on the way back and a last 100M kick just got me under 22.

There was an F60 nearly a minute ahead who was clearly a good runner and ended up with a 92% age grading!

A bit of stalking suggests she did a 2:50 marathon in her early 40’s and HMP PB of 83, long before fast trainers so clearly been a very good runner.

21:34 this morning and I was very pleased with that as my ribs are still a bit painful after bashing them on Tuesday. We also went round a friends house yesterday evening and two large G&T’s and a bottle of white wine made me a little ā€œfluffyā€ this morning!
