Parkrun

Yeah, almost certainly have more tourists than locals most weeks and from what I remember that park wasn’t exactly massive. I bet a few might gamble on going there for the first week.

Edit: if this is the actual course it looks like a bit of a nightmare!

Did I say that out loud?

I must have been having a right Jeff 'n Joe day :joy:

(I’m right though.)

It starts in 3 weeks so we’ll soon find out! I do think some will try and get there for the first event!

Volunteering today as I’m supposed to be racing tomorrow, bigger turnout than usual today for some reason, think there was a tourist group from up north!

Heading towards 50 volunteer credits but a few were things like course checker and pacer where I ran as well.

I volunteered today too, and we had a group come down from Keighley, especially to do our one.

Doon’s local event has been cancelled because of the water problem.

One of mine as well due to a concert in the park

Our local one is cancelled due to another event at the park. Normally I’d go to the other one but I don’t think i have enough time, too much plaster boarding left to do, and my ribs seem to hurt when running (but surprisingly haven’t really when doing the DIY).

So ours delayed by 10 mins today as a dog had got its head stuck in the park gate.

LFB came and sorted it.

Buddy of mine wanted to try and get a PB.
Previous was 23:16, but wanted sub 23.

Was comfortably able to get him to 22:40.

Just after we crossed the line, one of the faster finishers had collapsed.

Cue CPR, defib and paramedics.

It seemed they were able to stabilise him.

It happened the day a guy who went through a similar things a year ago had come back for the first time.

Lucy Charles-Barclay rescued the mutt?

Glad it sounds like a good outcome on the other thing :grimacing:

I stayed local, planning was too poor to go to the coastal one and was also thinking about the slight northerly as it’s a staggered race and would have been 3K into the breeze.

The field seemed quite thin today except for a woman doing it for the first time, she finished first overall and was about 40 seconds clear of second, the course is very dry at the minute and although all on trail I think there’ll be a bit of benefit for Alphafly’s!

Quite a few M55 and upwards at the front, but the official results aren’t right, I got token 14 which was probably right but I’m 17th on the results and about 10 seconds down so there’s a problem somewhere.

Finished in 21:50 but it felt pretty hard and was quite a lot cooler today, only about 18c, so not sure why I wasn’t a bit faster, should just about be over the donation now.

Look kids, no need to starve yourselves for top results!

Rocked to Winchester today. First one for a good 6-8 wks I think. LO took off but I ran with Mrs FP and was please to say I managed to shuffle around in a hobby jog without stopping. 28:52 and the longest run I’ve done since April 6th.

LO said she took it very steady with a 23;58

The briefing called out for a 22 pacer, so I did that, took some guy moaning about having to do lots of plaster boarding all week through 2km on my pace for it - which is possibly too easy up the hill for most - he kept on though so well done, maybe he got a PB  . Finished in 22:04 which was a bit rubbish.

Not done parkrun for 2 weeks, and last form of (formal) exercise was 2nd August. Lack of sleep and illness over the last few days, so was planning to take it quite easy.

Found myself next to the 22 min pacer, didn’t think I’d quite go that fast, but he engaged me in conversation and wouldn’t shut up and let me drop back.

Stupidly went up the hill at a decent pace overtaking a few people and then had to it up to keep them at bay. On the plus side I mo longer had to try and continue conversation while struggling to breathe.

21:15, knackered and paying for it, getting lightheaded putting up some plasterboard.

Local run for me today as the tri club are doing an event per month to celebrate our 40th anniversary. My 199th and one of the ladies from the club was doing her 400th!

Been struggling to push myself recently although it felt harder going out today so guessed I was putting a bit more effort in, but quite a few people going away. Finished in 21:27, faster than last week and only 7 seconds off my fastest this year and 16 off my course PB.

Looked at the splits and HR and should really be able to push a bit more but got quite a lot of fatigue at the moment. Fairly happy though.

Not run all week as the top of my foot is still swollen after a dog walking incident last weekend (mentioned elsewhere I think). Should have rested but it wasn’t a good enough excuse as I try my best not to miss a run (unless it’s raining :joy:). Decided to take it easy.

Got carried away after about 1k. Standard.

Finished in 20:45.

Foot is sore. No sh*t Sherlock.

First parkrun at Brooklyn Bridge today, about 550 with quite a few tourists and a lot of Uk running club names. Two really fast lads turned up to compete for the first course record, something like 16:xx

Did it with the buggy today and wasn’t feeling it at all, 4:30/km was feeling hard and I was relieved when #3 started crying a little before the 4km mark, used it was an excise to immediately pull over and sorted him out, looked like he might have bitten something in his mouth as there was a bit of blood so a further excuse to continue at a much slower pace.

Turned out comedian Joe Wilkinson was there for the 5th time, making it his 3rd most frequented parkrun, though a bit of a way behind 2 events in Brighton where he’s done about 180 at each.

On a triathlon forum and you didn’t comment on the Pro triathlete woman and her friend (who I suspect was also a pro triathlete, but “unknown runner”) both doing a pretty easy looking chatting run just sub 20.
