I was back on the tourist trail and went to the one I was going to do last week just up the coast at Easington (think old pit village that time left behind!), their numbers were back to usual with all the other runs back on and just 51 of us. Nice little course but quite lumpy with about 50% on track or grass.
Had planned to go steady but as it was downhill for the first 700m was going a bit quicker than planned and 7 of use were leaving the rest behind. I only had pair of standard road shoes on which were a bit slippy in a few places but not too bad.
I tried to ease back a bit but was struggling and seemingly in a small race with another bloke, he fell back a bit at halfway as I think heād gone a bit fast like me!
Luckily the last 500m was mostly descending and I got round in 23:20.
Apparently my Cowell index is now 75! Not sure Iāll make it to a hundred this year though.
Completed my Match of the Day challenge by doing my 288th run at Marlborough Commonās 288th run.
3rd time Ive done this one, which is about 15 miles away. All on grass, 2 laps with a bit of a long uphill drag which I definitely noticed on the second lap.
Iām shaking off the tail end of a cold/cough. Felt a pretty hard effort and finished 22 on the dot.
Went to a local cafe which seemed a bit welsh, offering a Pistachio Crfwyn (or something like that), but I opted for the Cinnamon bun. Google says itās called Coffi Lab, very dog friendly and definitely Welsh.
Cycled over to Park in the Past Parkrun this morning & only just made the start.
It was a filthy affair. I think thereās been a fair bit of JCB action recently & this coupled with my tardiness & the recent weather meant I got filthy changing in/out of my cycling kitā¦.guess this is why theyāre Parkruns & not Tarmaccedindustrialestateruns.
Ran ok, pulled myself up from 7th to 3rd as the race played out & clocked a frustrating 20:01 .
Think Iāll save this course for summer in future.
How does LO fair in the āAge Gradeā results, Iām guessing sheās near the topā¦.the older I get the quicker I am to look at those results when they pop up .
Bumped into an old colleague at Taunton park run on Saturday. Not seen him for 11 years, he was just visiting a friend down here, and it was only his second ever parkrun.
When junior #3 came down a few weeks ago, we did the parkrun too. His GF bumped into a friend she hadnāt seen since school⦠they were at school in York
Kingston ParkRun and finally ticked off #50, 14 years after doing my first one. 23:xx with no pulls, aches, strains or tears. This is a win. There was carnage at the end as the RD had forgotten to sort the tokens from last week so there was an enormous queue going through the funnel and then people had to wait around to get a token. Glad I wasnāt volunteering this week!
Ouch! some red faces there Iāll bet, not just from the runners! Well done mate
I went to Parkrun but just cheered on LO. I had a migraine in the night that I manage to shift but they wipe me out. LO forgot her watch and havenāt had the results through yet. Iād guess high 23.xx but could be a touch more.
Iām visiting my parents in Godās own country so popped out for a run at their local, Carlingwark.
Chatted to a lad on the start line that Iād gone to primary/secondary school & all the way through Cubs & Scouts withā¦..hadnāt seen each other for about 40yrs, didnāt tell him I used to fancy his sister .
Been miserably full of cold for most of the week but decided to stop complaining about it & get some fresh air. During the race I fleetingly thought I could nick a win but the lad in front had plenty in reserve & crushed my dreams in the last 5mins.
