PEDs

After a five message each “ discussion”
I thought he was talking about “other people”

Which I was obviously pleased about then he came out and basically fully admitted using peds long term ish.

I then thought he was taking the puss on a drunken Saturday night… obviously not.

I doubt his initial 25% of males over… are taking it is accurate probably less and some form of self justification involved.

He’s not the only one I’ve had several “ there is NO testing so it’s fine “ type mails.
Possibly his “ followers / friends”

He’s done a tri/ duathlon too, anyone who takes peds is a CHEAT in any sport ever
The end

Pro bodybuilding is obviously exempt, but they don’t even get out of breath so duck them !

Maybe 25% of people he knows; that’s his ‘circle’.

I think I’m a bit guilty of that too.,
I’m a gym rat !

The crux of his argument is there, I’ve linked to the spot in the video. Essentially ‘I’m not at the pointy end of races so they aren’t gonna test me, if they do I’ll apply for a TUE and see what happens…’

I can’t even watch this.
The world has gone bonkers !

I’ve had several private messages over the last few days “ hard work pays off we’re not all on peds “
“ basically leave mark alone !”
And lots of “ it’s fine there is no testing for hyrox”

I’m quite astounded to be honest, putting your long term health at Risk to go a bit faster or stronger lifts, just crazy !
Plus it’s CHEATING there’s no getting away from it.

A TUE based on what?

There are plenty of people like him in life; we give them rude names.

Its certainly an emotive topic.

On the one hand if someone genuinely does have abnormally low levels of T and they enjoy physical activity (which is also going to beneficial for their health) and going on TRT is going to hugely improve their quality of life is that such a bad thing? Heck I’m sure many on here would agree NOT being able to exercise severly affects their mental health.

The counter being in this case is making a living from fitness and being slightly subversive on TRT use when competing. But I’m sure you could say many people have watched his videos and been motivated to get themselves healthy and in shape (without TRT)

Its such a grey area. I think the only way in my head of TRT being acceptable (via TUE and your competing) is if your only taking doses that takes you to a pre determined level and no higher. Say maybe just below the average levels for someone of your age or something? :man_shrugging: Which I’m sure is completely unrealistic.

@Jorgan I think on him having abnormally low levels. He does say at the beginning of the video that he did fully exhaust other options to improve the situation before going on TRT, cutting booze, stress, sleep etc, which I would tend to believe given his approach to most things.

Watched it !
He’s never gunna challenge Matt, chicken etc in a tri and he would only be mid pack so would only be tested if he was grassed up ( which is looking more likely)

In hyrox he’s competitive. He could and I think has placed in his AG.

He went private …. Was it in Spain?!

If it was me I’d train/ race with what I had.
Strange he never mentioned any of this when we had our “discussion “ the other night?!
He just kept saying there’s no testing in hyrox so it’s fine.

It’s basically Life Enhancement vs Performance Enhancement. A lot of men will try justify the latter with the former. The video comments are full of them.

The million dollar question for me is whether there is a rule or not; testing is to enforce the rule.

Cheating is breaking the rules so if there is no rule then I wouldn’t technically call it cheating.
If there is a rule but they don’t test then it is cheating but with little or no chance of getting caught.

I agree it’s pretty sad and question why you’d impact your health for it but purely on the cheating debate that would be my thoughts.

His behaviour is based on insecurity.

Several people have said similar.

One really honest guy who obviously uses peds turned it on its head and said “ this is obviously the only race I can do as I take steds all the time … :grinning:

If you went to hyrox and said “ can I use test, EPO, Anavar etc do I can go faster ?” I’d like to think the answer would be “ no”

But I don’t know that for certain ?!

Does there really need to be a rule in any event ever that states you can’t use peds for this event ?

For me that’s a given !

Depends if a sport is signed up to WADA code doesn’t it?

I can’t imagine he can show his face at any mainstream sport now; he’d be bubbled.

Regional which I think is like Europe, US and somewhere else, is £40k, Worlds is £150k. Those are all purse amounts and split evenly between male and female and then depending on finish position.

I’m not interested in Hyrox! I meant if people are juiced up, is it having a significant impact on clean athletes being able to take home a decent pay day?

But also, i’m not a spaghetti runner! It would absolutely knacker me (esp with no training) but i’d move a sled with the weights that Sowler posted on the other thread! 24kgs Farmer’s walk sounds pretty straightforward as well (in isolation - i couldn’t do it all in one go like you boys do). The lunges i’d be shite at!

I would imagine the vibe in the comments section is similar to Andrew Tate’s War Room discourse. People using mental gymnastics to justify their behaviour. I’m sure a lot of Beta males look at both men and aspire to be them, because they have flash cars, attractive partners, biceps etc. It’s the Playground for grown-ups.

They probably like Thrudark clothing as well for example; because they think it associates them with the ethos and skills of the Brand founders (who totally play on that).

Its an interesting one. My guess would probably be it would depend if you were asking privately or publicly. No matter which way you cut it. In the rules or not. It would not be good PR or marketing for any sport, especially one wanting to attract everyone to it if they openly allowed drug taking in competing athletes.

You’d manage, except the wall balls and burpees might kill you :joy: I’ve done very little dedicated training other than my usual which doesn’t change that much whether I’m doing TCR or Hyrox. eg Weight training, plus more or less cycling/running :man_shrugging:
