I helped four girls get ready for a miss bikini contest ( cardio, weights etc) about ten years ago
They all took Anavar
Two of them took much heavier stuff
None of them looked anything like the 800 m runner ?!
There training regime wasn’t that bad
The diet was horrendous
East Germans, who knows what they were up to!
Sharron Davies was very outspoken back in the day about it (and still is) but there was lots of talk about her also at the time.

Kratochvilova is Czech but essentially the same regime as they were both part of the Soviet Bloc at the time. Kratochvilova’s big rival was Marita Koch who was East German and those 2 dominated 400/800m running at the time.

I saw her in an interview recently about woman’s sport
She mentioned the two boxers and others I’ve never heard of before.
One was a swimmer ?!
Only full blown pro ladies body builders look that masculine and no 800 m runner anytime ever is taking 10% of the gear they take

It was two tier athletics at the time, Eastern block and the West (although no doubt many of those were juiced up to the eyeballs, just not quite as “anything goes” and “state sponsored”
It always made me laugh with Jens Voigt riding away at will from a juiced up peloton, claiming he was clean despite going to the state run sports academy from a young age.

Some of you may ( or may not ) be surprised that I soent Monday afternoon this week actively looking for prednisolone …basically a steroid or more accurately a corticosteroid.
The people I contacted sell peds illegally in varying amounts.
All nhs routes have been exhausted ( despite a £200 20? Min phone consultation )
The powers that be quite simply refuse to prescribe long term as this use may causes the adrenal gland to stop working and this can then cause catastrophic kidney failure apparently.
I’ll rewind.
Firstly this isn’t a dig at the nhs or anyone who works / used to work for it, I know fruity is a quack and dr Chris fish too, some of you also work in health care services and I’ve no doubt all do great jobs.
Someone very dear to me has a terminal breathing disease
Diagnosed in 2021 with a 2.5/ 3 year life expectancy
We were devastated, thankfully it seems the illness is a milder form but is ultimately ending in the same way.
After a recent test he was prescribed prednisolone on a five day script
8 x 5 mg tablets per day.
The transformation was like the film cocoon we’re the oldies all start being very active
My brother said the change was
“ unbelievable “
What he did in those five days ( relative to what he could do before ) kicks every single story on this thread to pieces and then some.
Two weeks later he is back to we’re he was before and obviously wants to spend the few years he has left with a good quality of life…
I can’t really finish this story for obvious reasons but the outcome was positive shall we say.
I know some of you might look down on this and I get that but in his position I would do exactly the same thing.

I would never look down on that Mungo, and well done on opening up. My dad, he was on a steroid (may have been what you said but I haven’t a clue) but was stopped as long term use may cause kidney failure blah blah, forgetting that he would probably have been dead years before without some drug trial and that he was on his last legs anyway, we knew he would maybe not even make Xmas at that stage, he went from playing golf to 2 weeks later dead! Will will never know if it accelerated the process, if those two weeks wouldn’t have been in bed or what but sometimes common sense needs to outweigh logic, someone with terminal cancer isnt worried about the long term effects of a drug.
Its all rather sad.

Yes quite a conceited thing to say but he really is a lovely fella, I just want to see him happy and not wheezing constantly, he understands the possible consequences.
Life can be really sad at times

I don’t have a problem with people doing this to give them a bit more quality at the end of their life, I doubt they’re going to be entering a race or anything.
It is a bit sad that they are taking the stance, can’t help thinking it is also based on funding and bean counters TBH.

On his third day? He did 6 hours gardening and two tip runs then took the dog for a long walk.
That is literally like someone on here announcing a sub 8 Ironman who is normally MOP.
On a bodybuilding forum the tablets he takes were described as” so mild they were next to useless” drugs are used to cheat in almost every sport now, they are powerful things for sure, this is one occasion we’re im glad of that fact
