Power tap pedals

Only to say that you’ve received the pedals and it will take up to 14 working days

I’m not sure the difference. Power values will just stop appearing in whatever app or device I’m using over Bluetooth. I originally thought it was Bluetooth interference but Ive ruled that out now (some nine months later!). The power values then reappear usually either immediately or 7 seconds later then continues showing or disappears again and reconnects.

Because it’s quick I couldn’t say if the lights go out, but it does “de-pair” and “re-pair” from a Bluetooth point of view.

Yes, BLE isn’t the greatest and we always recommend Ant+ if possible - I would need to test them on the rig.

Hmm. Not a great day to lose my 8mm hex bit. Blasted thing :rage:

Okay, bought another £15 hex set for the one 8mm bit and swapped the pedals over.

Based on a 2min section looks like 10+ watts difference between the two on average.

And both vary from the trainer that was set at 197W

Although from my previous tests set #1 varies more like 30W from the trainer in erg mode. I did an FTP test dual running, scored 234W on the trainer and 260W on the pedals which was last Monday, for example.

So what I take from that is, use set one for zwift races

I do :smiley:

And I’ll be heart broken if I ever get evidence their the duff ones! I’ve been using them since 2017.

I might test them again now I have the tools and a protocol of sorts. 2 mins isnt very long obviously.

So a little more testing more anyone who’s interested in this sort of thing.

A few minutes at 150, 200 and 250W by Erg trainer. Those values aren’t good but they do provide a comparative base between the pedals.

Top line is 2 spare pair, bottom line is 1 my users.

And Ive got to say I’m a little surprised and pleased with how close they are to each other. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think actual power is more relevant than NP in this case and I’m not a perfect cadence/power engine myself. So all good.

Many thanks @MrPG

Received my pedals on Thursday. I’ve done about 120kms yesterday/today. Silky smooth bearings and working perfectly :+1:t2::ok_hand:t2:

I’m thinking about sending the pair I was donated off for some diagnostics.

Green light flashes but no reading picked up

@Adam Are they P1 or P1s?

@Poet There is only me!

P1s

They were donated by a friend who crashed in a road race. The claw is a bit iffy on the right pedal but still works. I replaced the battery on the left, the green light flashes when spun but I can’t find the pedal through the power tap app or with a cycling computer!

Have you tried Ant+ and BLE? Not working on either?
The PT app is redundant now really and not supported/updated. SRAM AXS app is the one.

If you want to send them in complete the returns form, we won’t charge for telling you the bad news!

Ah did not know the app was dead.

I’ll definitely send them in in that case. Thanks @MrPG :+1:t2:

Ah - didn’t realise it wasn’t the Tobin’s anymore :+1:t3:

Cant wait to put the proper cleats on, my Look cleats have been squeaking like hell :see_no_evil:
