Absolutely, which is why you need to maximise the time between the pro start, and the AG start and preferably not have them at all! Of course, that’s not financially viable. But putting the women’s pro in range of the pro men is worse, 25 minute head start takes quite awhile before the leading AGers come through, rather than getting it from the start.
So what’s the solution?
Not aimed at Jim, but everyone.
Obviously, we need MPRO, FPRO and AG all in one race.
But what’s the best way to start this???
Bah…Kona in the old days, the M/F Pros just got a 20m headstart on the entire AG field, and that was it.
What is the reason all pro’s don’t just go off together?
To seperate the races and give the women Pros equal visibility, no?
Yes. Plus LCB would be involved (advantaged) in the men’s race with her swim.
I beleieve also to reduce the influence the men’s race has on the womens’. I remember hearing a few pros want a bigger gap to AG men starting too, to reduce fast AG men from influencing the womens’ race too. IIRC there was a female pro was alleged to have used her fast AG husband and coach to help pace her bike and run.
I heard about AG men pacing Pro women but I thought that was marathon for some reason
I know many years ago, Mr & Mrs Granger had very convenient swim & bike splits in Roth. He was slow enough for them to start the bike together iirc.
That was all pure coincidence according to BG. A coincidence that happened about a dozen times.
Another big mover in the bike sponsor arena
Just saw the Brownlees have announced they’re now riding BMC, moving away from Scott.
That feels like a bit of a downgrade to me? What do you more informed folks think?
Wasn’t that who Skipper announced yesterday as well?
Na I’d rate BMC higher than I Scott.
Scott have never appealed. BMC possibly a bit marmite though. Looking at the time/team machine etc
No Skipper was QR to Argon 18
Think Sam Long left Argon to go to Spesh? edit - no he was Trek as well.
Gomez from Spesh to Orbea
Think Ruth Astle is about to announce another new one as well
Taylor Knibb to Trek
Do spesh actually have any high end triathletes on their books now? They seemed to have really pulled over the past few years
Braden Currie and Amberger in long course that I can think of off the top of my head. Who was Holly Lawrence, was she Spesh or Trek?
I’m sure I remember reading that they were more focussed on short course. Vincent Luis is Spesh. Zaferes?
I think Lawrence is Trek
Sales from S-Works tts must be a dip in the ocean compared to sales of SL7s and the like
Ruth Astle to BMC as well, BOGOF for BMC?
Sorry, my bad. Not sure why I couldn’t get BMC out of my mind
Although I’m not a massive fan of the Scott Plasma, the Addict and Foil are excellent. I regret binning my foil for the Propel, although it’s still a great bike.
I have a BMC, they look ace.
I’ve always been a fan of them.
I couldn’t care less which athlete is riding what - makes zero influence on my buying process;
- Does it fit
- Is it cheap
- Does it match my kit
