@gingerbongo - I did the upstairs en-suite in pro cycling brands; Hansgrohe taps, Quick-Step vinyl flooring, secured with Mapei Ultraplan 3240 self-levelling screed, then edged with Soudal caulk
Put a nice new Deceuninck window in, replacing the old misted unit.
After installing, I washed my hands with some Ineos hand cleanser, went inthe shower and washed my hair with my Alpecin caffeine shampoo, donned my Rapha-Palace garbs to drive to Lidl in my Citroen
Lance would disagree with you. Claims to have single handedly built the Trek brand on the back of his TdF antics.
But sponsorship is about more than shifting units these days. It’s buying the opportunity to schmooze your clients with famous faces, or try and deflect a painful google search to something more wholesome.
Not sure @Poet is going to be buying any Ineos gear for his en-suite,
I think Jumbo are pulling out of all their sponsorship deals, something to do with the disgraced ex CEO.
If a merger does take place, the question is where do all the riders and staff go? Both teams have almost full rosters and a team only needs one set of staff.
Are rider contracts invalid under a new team? Who knows?
In an odd way it might even things up in the GC if Rog and Remco go to new teams. Maybe.
Aren’t team sizes limited by the UCI, so a merger would mean half of the riders and half of the staff losing their jobs?
Cycling sponsorship seems to be largely at the whim of cycling fans in the boardroom rather than any tangible benefits. Maserati were sponsoring all sorts of cycling stuff in the Uk because the UK CEO was into cycling. When he lost his job it all stopped abruptly.
There was a story on one of the cycling sites yesterday that Tim Cook is a huge cycling fan and had recently visited the JV team, so they were speculating that Apple would be sponsoring the team
At least football clubs have a revenue stream from TV money, ticket sales, merchandise etc. the Americans buying up the teams are aiming to turn a profit from them.
For cycling teams your only income is from sponsorship, so when the sponsors go you have nothing
Bigger issue must be for the back room staff. A lot more than 30 people looking for new teams, most of which are considerably less well funded than JV or QS.
If Remco, Roglic and maybe Kuss move on, it could open up the GC race a bit more.
