Imagine if you put Remco, Caleb and a young #CVNDSH in the same team

Winner ≠ contender

Contender: A person competing against others to achieve something

Apart from his own team, whom gifted him the title, who was Kuss competing against?

Remco’s Vuelta win was also largely uncontested.
Who was even racing that event last year?

His time trial was phenomenal though :exploding_head:
The mountain stage was also decent.

But the Vuelta is sort of a freak show, an after season party, of short stages with absurdly steep climbs.

Apparently Amazon being linked as title sponsor for the new Visma-Soudal team.

A good old bit of sport washing :joy:

How is Amazon becoming a sponsor ā€œsports washingā€? Unless every sponsorship deal is sports washing

Roglic is on the market, but suitors need to buy out his contract from JV. Looks like a wanker tax.

Technically yes. Most if not all sponsorship is to improve the brand image?

Has a link to the Belgian flooring industry and human rights abuses been made?

I’d certainly feel abused if I paid Karndean prices for vinyl

Ā£10 million apparently, which nicely fills the hole in the 2024 budget.

Roglic has confirmed he’s leaving.

Rumour that he’s signed a 3 year deal at Ā£6m a year. Possibly Bora or Ineos.

No way will Roglic be getting £6m a year

That’s what’s being reported.

Mind you, also being reported is Jumbo becoming Team NeomAmazonApple, so who knows

Only if they have a motor…

There must be some images that even sport cannot wash

To answer your question, I don’t think there are any images that sport cannot wash. However, it is important to be aware of the practice of sportswashing and to recognise when it is being used to distract from wrongdoing. By doing so, we can hold those responsible accountable for their actions and work towards a more just and equitable world.

Maybe Prince Andrew could start his own team :face_with_peeking_eye::speak_no_evil:

6m/year does sound a lot for a GC rider who’s unlikely to win the TdF in this era. Only Ineos could afford that; I think Bora’s annual budget is around Ā£15m all in.

Would certainly be an odd one if it was Ineos. Ratcliffe wants the Tour, as you said, Rog isn’t going to win the Tour.

Best bet is merge with SQS then develop Remco into your TDF contender. He’s only 23, Jonas was 25 when he first won it.

I think Bora more likely than Ineos TBH. I don’t think Ineos will pay that much for a rider nearer the end of his career than the start

Rog to Bora, Remco to Ineos
