I’ve watched this a few times at varying degrees of slow mo and there’s no doubt in my mind she’s deliberately tried to throw it into his chain/wheel.

There’s been plenty of talk about the abuse he gets at cyclo-cross and beer thrown at him etc, but this next level; it could be season over if he goes down on the cobbles at that speed (or even worse)

I guess the question is what can you do? If she’s arrested and charged, unless they lock her up what’s to stop her turning up at the next race and trying it again?
I’m not sure of the reasons surrounding MvP being targeted but how extreme would the punishment have to be to dissuade other from trying it?

I think it’s partly because he chose to represent Holland despite having some Belgian heritage.
I take your point re the punishment, as ultimately nothing came of it, but it may act as some deterrent to others of a similar mind frame if they think it’s at least more than a bit of a lark with no consequences for themselves.

I just did a bit of Googling, so his grandfather is French (I’m guessing his mother was probably French then), his father is Dutch and he was born in Belgium.
