Athlete: my blood passport went wonky on that date because I was huffing CO the day before
ADA: I see, crack on

Cycling has turned enough corners to be back where it started.

Exactly, could just be mico-dosing EPO and spinning the blood and swapping the bags out regularly like the good old days. But saying they’re using CO for the same effect.

I wonder if there is use of a synthetic O2 carrier like perfluorocarbon that the testers are unaware of. Like with BALCO and their product(s) that the testers were unaware of until a coach sent it to them.

WADA been testing for these for about 20 years. Interesting background article here about artificial O2 carriers

Cycling team managers are just like tax accountants - always looking for a loophole that they can exploit to gain an advantage while staying on the right side of the letter of the law :man_shrugging:

Yeah, I remember people getting busted for fluorocarbons. I wonder if there are new types of O2 vector as yet unknown. BALCO had their anabolics, which again have been known about for decades but the atheltes could use them knowing they wouldn’t test positive.

No doubt there is something out there, although many of the emerging PEDs are coming from drug companies (often drugs that have shown good performance in trials but side effects mean they never reach the market as clinical products) who have a tendency now to cooperate with WADA with info on these and testing procedures established.

He did LOADS of work yesterday, too.

Great win for him and the team.

INEOS still in the doldrums.

I’m sure they could get the British Cycling team doctor to personally deliver some to the race if they wanted them

Time to head to the sunny shores of Nice. Looking forward to TdF madness. Been about 10 years since I last watched at the roadside.

Such a shite season of pro cycling, Strada, Flanders, Roubaix, Giro and Tour all massively predictable and nearly no tension as to who will win
