Pro Cycling Live - will contain spoilers

I was reading about this earlier and there seemed to be some suggestion that she went off the road but wasn’t seen so was left for some considerable time without attention. I guess it will all come out in due course but even more sad if it was eminently preventable.
I know from the bits I’ve seen during the week that there have been complaints about the course and how “technical” it is in places which the weather has exacerbated.

Good to see the Dutch riding each other off their wheel to give the others a chance.

So many questions to answer on this crash. Weather was terrible on Thursday, this section of the course is also super fast (I’ve seen comments that riders can do 80-90kph here), helped by really nice smooth tarmac. Another factor could have been that this section is less than 5k from where Muriel lived, she knew the road really well - I know from my own experience that I am far faster on descents which I know well, this leaves far less margin for error. This was a similar situation to Gino Mäder last year, who died on a the Tour de Swiss on a local descent which he trained on regularly. This is now 2 deaths in Swiss road races in 2 years.

The technology to create alerts in the event of a crash is now standard, in this incident, had it been used, there wouldn’t have been an hour delay discovering her - no idea whether it would have made a difference though. I also wonder whether in Junior / lower cat races whether fast descents should be nutralised

Crash alert tech requires a mobile phone connection, doesn’t it?

Why  ?

Well a win from popping off the front for over 100km out tends to raise some eyebrows.

Some of the power numbers flying around for during the attack are impressive. 550W for 8-10 minutes and still getting dropped by Pog, people doing 1000W during the initial attack

9 years old, so not much of a spoiler, just a very weird race. Good to see sport doing non-traditional things at different meets

Maryland Crawl, origianly a track league race from Maryland, US. They used to do this at track league a lot. Revo Series was essentially an elite track league anyway but I dont believe it ever returned after Covid. Derny racing was huge fun also. We used to go to London Olympic Velodrome a lot to watch.
They have a champions league now, but since me and latterly el niño stopped racing bikes, we’ve not been to watch.
