Given pro cycling’s recent history, I don’t think riders can blame the public for cynicism where ‘super-human’ efforts are involved.
Luke Rowe joining Decathlon as their Sporting Director.
Seems like Ineos losing an emotional leader in the team, and someone with a lot of built in knowledge.
It seems like Mr Ineos isn’t really interested in the team, but happy to have a stable of individual athletes like Pidcock, PFP, Ganna. Also the sub 2 hour marathon thing. Although Geraint said they put all their money on Bernal but he got injured. You would think Luke Rowe would be the perfect DS for them to keep.
Sidelined Cumming, due to Diva Tom.
He’s too busy with Manchester United
I think it’s a good move for Rowe & potentially Ineos in the future. It must be very difficult to step off the bike & into the same team car the following day & deal with your team mates in a very different role. Being in a different team will give Rowe a chance to grow that he may not have if he stays with Ineos.
That & the money, Decathlon seem to have a decent budget atm.
Will he cope with BOC’s incessant whining though?!
BOC has gone to Jayco.
Agreed, I think the move from rider to DS will be easier in a different team with riders who he wasn’t a team-mate with.
And he is still going to be doing their pod which is the most important thing!
And the Americas Cup
And his dodgy land rovers.
David Millar had one of those fat Landies for what was obvs a promotional loan a few months back & was posting pictures up on The Gram.
Not one “Oh, that’s a lovely car” comment, he was utterly roasted
Looks like it was over a year ago....
And £10-£15k bikes and £500 areo bras aren’t conspicuous consumption or status symbols?
Pot/kettle
I assumed any grief he got was because a big SUV is the natural enemy of a cyclist on a country lane
Apparently Cav is supposed to be doing Paris marathon next year with his brother.
Following Vino and others into Ironman next😂
Bloody hell, just reading about Chris Hoy, that’s absolutely tragic
Might not even see 50
Awful news, isn’t it?
He’s always come across as a thoroughly nice bloke, who did everything by the book. Just shows that cancer can strike anyone at anytime.
Then you read the full Times article and it makes for a very sombre start to the day. His wife has also been diagnosed with MS. It’s so desperately sad and at a time in their lives when everything should be looking so positive and happy.
Went to the Doctor for a sore shoulder he thought was a muscle injury. Reminded me of my now ex colleague and good friend. We went lunchtime running together, and he was training for his 5th major in Tokyo so he could get guaranteed Boston entry. Had a bad back, but got worse, see physio who said see Doctor. Never made Tokyo.
No way!
He looked right as rain at Toolstation three weeks back
