Today reminded me of Hautacam in 2000, minus the rain.
I think Visma have to decide for him. He’s given it all several times over, he’ll never give up, but it’s time to find another young buck.
So does Britain, Pidcock is an amazing rider but I think this and last years Tour have hit that on the head. Gravel is more important in the US anyway.
Del Toro, Carapaz, Seixas, or maybe cast the net wider. See what some can do with team support.

I think Pidcock is more of a classics rider than a grand tour contender.
Aside from the fact that he doesn’t have the consistency on the big climbs, I don’t think his time trialing is good enough.
A bit like Bardet, he’s always going to ship a load of time in the TTs.
I’m not sure that Ving is done yet. He only won the Giro a couple of months ago

I’m not making excuses (well I am!) but yesterday’s stage was 130km and Pantani’s best was 160km.
But the Armstrong’s was an itt, so he should have been in the best shape.
So I’ve not proven anything
