Having gone kaboom on a climb it’s kind of nice to see the pros do it too, Cosnefroy really went backwards quickly there

Don’t you love it when someone in the house who knows fuck all about the sport starts commentating over the top of the TV, will end up watching the thread or twitter as I can’t take much more.

Could be a Thibault win, or maybe not quite

Great stage today. Superb ride by Jungels.

Interesting to see Pog a few extra seconds at the finish, trying to split the GC group. He’s putting in a lot of effort to gain odd seconds. You’d think he’d wait for a big mountain stage to really shake things up and take a big chunk of time.

Is it hoping too much for him to do a Yates Giro 2018 and burn all of his matches in the first half of the race to gain odd seconds, only to blow up big time in the last week?

Shame we didn’t get to see the GC group at all on the final climb. They were motoring, closed from 2:10 to 50s in the space of 3km

Yeah, I was surprised by how soon after the first 4 they hit the finish

I need to chin Ganna off.

Maybe its me and I just havent got in to it this year, but anyone else finding the TdF after week 1 a little un-interesting (I say that rather than boring).

Nothing particularly un-expected has happened. I know there is plenty more to come but its not drawn me in so far.

There has been an air of predictability about it so far, yesterday was a bonus with the final chase. Maybe doesn’t help with a dominant flat stage person like WvA and Pog when the road goes upwards. All being well other teams will attack the yellow to see how strong or otherwise his team really are.

I think it’s still close enough at the top of the GC to give us some hope that Pog might have a bad day and let someone else take the lead.

Obviously that could all change this week if Pog goes on the attack and takes 5 minutes out of everyone, killing the GC battle dead

I think what we’re lacking this year is an Alaphilippe or a Voeckler taking the yellow from an early breakaway and then heroically defending it over the next week or so. I don’t think Pog has been out of the top 5 this year and when he took the yellow last week it looked likely that he would be wearing it to the finish.

I don’t think Pog has had to go above 95% yet. Look at Planche de Belle Filles, Vingegaard was absolutely bolloxed at the line but Pog rolled over looking not too troubled at all. Same yesterday, Pog outsprinted the rest of the GC group and cruised over the line looking around him to see where everyone was

He became the ā€˜unbeatable’ rider he is now, in 2020.

Random fact. 16 of the ā€˜top 100 All Time’ Ranked riders in history, currently have contracts. Valverde (6) and Sagan (17) are the highest.

Merckx is head & shoulders #1.
