Iāve cycled to Derby twice from here, itās a hideous 200km hill-fest.
To Worksop (via Sheff) would probably be best (train home)

Itās a good route that Notts one - you can watch the start, head out to Lowdham, then Southwell, then either Edwinstowe or Mansfield

I think the Pyrenees are more scenic than the Alps.

Those mountains are gorgeous. So much bigger and more dramatic than Snowdonia!!! Iāve just been looking into the area as a future holiday option. San Sebastian on the coast looks lush, Biarritz not too far away. Maybe will have to wait for a 2 weeker when the girls are older. Few days on the coast and a few days up in the mountains.
May have to get planning and working on Mrs GB!

Maybe itās good when you can practise it at home, but weāve got max 20 minute climbs here.
Yes and no. I have visited places like that before. Iāve not been properly into the high mountains (other than skiing) and the massive vistas that they offer. I couldnāt GAF what the roads are like! Iām not talking about riding a bike, i mean a holiday with the famkily.
