Shame Roglic didn’t push on a littel bit earlier, 15 second gain probably isn’t enough

Just caught up on the last 2 days back to back.

Fair Play Remco has dug in and limited his losses. Some good racing though.

Arensman has jumped up the standings with that run today.

What the hell was that finish about, Rog attacks to gain time then crashes 150m from the line when not really contesting the sprint, and did Remco really have a flat? very convenient

ETA Rog takes the lead, no 3km rule for Remco so if he did pretend to have a flat it was a huge error

Oh that’s interesting. I thought the 3km thing was just for crashes but they didn’t pick up on it on the commentary.

Very weird from Rog. But he doesn’t look good.

They were saying that the mechanical would have counted as a last 3km same time ruling but the stage wasn’t declared as a likely mass sprint one probably because of the kickers in the final 12km so no 3km rule.

Bit of a screw up for Remco, if it was a flat he could probably have either taken a teammate’s bike or ridden on the flat (didn’t look like it was totally flat), probably wouldn’t have lost 3 minutes either way.

Ouch for both of them for different reasons. Mas could be the eventual beneficiary.

Indeed.
If those two beat themselves out the race, there are 3 Spaniards in 3-6 as well.

None of the articles I’ve read this morning have picked up on this. Where did you see it?

Eta - the vuelta website has Remco as #1 still with a 1.26 lead.

After a wait, the commissaires confirmed that Evenepoel had been awarded the same time as the peloton, meaning that he limited his losses on Roglic to eight seconds. In the overall Vuelta standings, Evenepoel is now 1:26 ahead of Roglic, with Enric Mas (Movistar) third at 2:01.

They make up the rules as they go along.

Has Fred Wright got a win, yet?

Yup

And no. 4th today.

Doesn’t surprise me … he’s not even got the KoM on the Sunday club run sprint finish :joy::wink::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Rog out :disappointed:

Wonder if he’d have given it a go if he’d stayed in red?

Ah that’s a shame. I’m not sure if Mas will go at Remco quite as aggressively as Rog would’ve. I think Mas will wait until these last couple of mountains and hope he can do it there.

Yesterday was all a bit disappointing. Roglic showed great guts, Remco seemed to be a bit of a wuss & neither seemed to get their just desserts.

Let’s hope Movistar test Remco’s legs today, if he was feeling it yesterday there’s a chance he’ll crack, kind of hope so after yesterday.

Yeah, it will be great if all the other teams taste blood & fucking pour it on.

Hang on, isn’t Remco the saviour of cycling?

Or has he caved under the pressure placed on his young shoulders?

I wouldn’t say caved. He’s hanging on at the moment. But he’s wobbling, that’s for sure.

I just can’t like him. Not sure why, just has one of those personalities and body language that I can’t get on board with. But that’s just me.

Not just you

He’s just another dodgy rider, if he wasn’t, he couldn’t be winning… we know the only way you can win clean is if you’re British racing for Team Sky and know all your marginal gains…
