European CX is a slippery mudbath, great viewing.
Shame it was such a one horse race, hoped the puncture/mechanical might even things up but it didnât really work out that way
Without the puncture it would have been even more of a procession, so we should be grateful for that I guess
Davide Rebellin hit by a truck near Vicenza and has died.
Cav without a ride for next season after B+B Hotels failed to get new sponsors
A guy I ride with, Roberto Jenal was a friend of Davide Rebellin, his posts are heart breaking. I was reading an article, hit and run, driver comes from Germany, previous hit and run prosecution and previous drink driving, WTF is this guy doing on the road, suspect he will face a very long jail term in Italy, but doesnât bring Davide back
Astana sack Lopez, seeing comments that could open the door for Cav
Also rumoured that the B&B team folded because Cav is about to announce his retirement.
And in bigger news, Ineos are being sponsored by SunGod. So thereâs questions about what G is gonna do with his famous Oakleys!
Also, more tri related i believe, but it seems that Spesh are making a sudden exit out of that market.
edit - it seems it was the ambassador program that Spesh suddenly dropped. This happened to coincide with Josh Amberger and Spesh parting ways. I thought the two mustâve been related, but that was my error.
Cav to Ineos. They have no GC for the tour this year, so they take a sprint train to get Cav his stage win. Picture on the front page of every newspaper and SPOTY in the bag.
Cav back to Ineos, 'cos that worked so well last time
I see Van per Poelâs had his assault conviction overturned in Australia.
Seems reasonable under the circumstances, but doesnât undo the damage done to his race.
The bogan dad of the feral girls involved is till bleating about how hard done by his darling daughters have been treated.
Thatâs a shame.
If youâve got GCN+ or similar check out tonightâs cyclocross race Superprestige Diegem - absolutely epic
I will.
Yesterdays race went down to the last few seconds.
Amazingly itâs even better than yesterdayâs race
Gazzetta dello Sport reckon this a done deal. Apparently bike sponsor Willier are paying him loads because they want him to replace Nibali as their ambassador.
Watched that last night, havenât they been racing for 3 days on the trot now?
I know theyâre not doing 5/6 hour days like a tour but there are long lulls in a stage race, this is full on for an hour solid. Some seem to be picking and choosing but others doing every day and I think they were averaging the best part of 30kph when it was drier.
Catching up on last nights race. They make it look so supremely easy.
About to settle down & watch this.
Unfortunately the MiL will be watching it with me. It could go one of 2 ways:-
-
she sits quietly & reads her book
-
she asks inane questions
