Quit the excuses H, your boy is too slow in the water without his wettie on, so is Wilde. That’s the reason. In Blackpool he would be fine as it will defo be a wetsuit swim.
Seriously though, he and Wilde are not as fast as some of the guys in the water, especially without a wetsuit. No idea how the swim will be in Paris next year but if it is non-wetsuit I suspect the French will really push the swim speed to gap Yee, Wilde and Blu as he can be off the pace on a hard swim.
He had a great swim that day for sure, only 20s back from Luis and Devay. Don’t remember what the race was like as I didn’t watch it. But his win there is why I said I suspect they will try and do a Brownlee brothers swim-bike team race and try and shoot it out on the run. They can’t afford to hang about with Yee, Wilde and maybe Blu on the bike IMO.
I was convinced there were some “agreements” in place Saturday also, 30 seconds and push the bike , hoping the 2nd (or 3rd as it turned out) pack don’t get themselves organised! The other consideration is how strong Hayden is on the bike, not that Alex isn’t, but Wilde is another level when he kicks, one of the strongest in the sport.
It did look that way to me too. It has to be done as the French guys are really strong overall and this gives them the best chance of winning. JB could potentially be there with them until T2. Makes it a better watch if played out that way IMO. French guys all running fast out front but Yee and Wilde running faster a little way back. Who knows where Blu will be
depends if he decides to focus on defending his Gold medal. since Tokyo, he’s been bouncing around all distances with some good results at long stuff but also some poor ones at short distance. If he decides to focus on the defence then he’ll be right up there in the mix probably.
I think the French have the capacity to take the race too far ahead of him on the swim & bike, particularly if non-wetsuit. But I reckon Yee and Wilde can both cycle with him and if they make it to the front of the race for the run they will both out run him now compared to Tokyo. (I have no data to back this up)
instead of shouting at the TV, he just texted me his emotions,” Potter explained. “It reads: ‘’What happened on the second lap of the swim when you dived in? Why are you in last place on the bike? You need a smaller aero helmet. You need to be rolling through to the front into T2. Stop running next to Kate. Stop looking behind you. Naff celebration. Only kidding. Well done!’”
I will be disappointed if there is no mention of the athletes having to get blood in their legs before they get out of the water. We also need mentions of Mark Allen, maybe Dave Scott too.
