The lion won?

The coverage sounded awful so didn’t bother with outside tv?

Coverage was awful, but to be honest, it’s awful on a good day. I mistook the ad breaks for feed drops, although there were some suspicious ones. And it hung on three occasions.

Sanders first win in ages.

Always liked him!
Crazy guy and even crazier training regime/ coach selection.

That was some field he beat, nice to see him still roaring at the highest level

Fair play to the mighty Lion. I thought his days were done and he was going to wring out a living the final couple of years by YouTube documenting his final decline.

He might bloody win the pro series! Fuck me they’ll be dancing on the streets of ST.

EPB DQd for speeding in a restricted zone apparently.

Decent day for Skipper, disastrous 45th out of the drink but biked/ran through to 9th and a 1:12:31 run.

If he’s chasing the pro series he needs a couple of decent 70.3 times relative to the winner to back up his IMs and this looks like objective met.

Has he ever podiumed at 70.3?

EPB got re-instated into 2nd place female after appealing her DQ. They said she’d been going over 35mph in a speed restricted zone but she said she hadn’t and provided her wahoo bike computer as evidence. They accepted that and she’s back in the results. This is taken from an interview with her on the ProTriNews instagram stories.

Apparently Skipper lost his bike Garmin as well, surprised he didn’t go off course as a result :joy:

How long has it been since Skipper stayed on the course and how long since EPB last went off course? Coincidence…?

Is this the turning point for Lionel, pretty decent swim, good run split, or will he f**k it all up with some new training regime. What’s next Kona Qualification at Texas and then aim for Kona.

Competition was good for this one but not the strongest 70.3 field he’ll face. Time will tell, but we’ll probably see a lot of complicated maths on the points system on ST of all the permutations it could happen.

Olympic duathlon, anyone?

add a shark into the equation and definitely a duathlon!

Isn’t this the standard Olympics scare story that always appear in the run-up. Some of the practice events were cancelled due to water quality, think they said at the time if it rains they have a problem. More of a problem for the OW swimming than triathlon though!

Rio also had stories of water quality issues. I think the Brownlees opted not to do a practice swim to avoid any risk in the days leading up. Then there are also stories about how Paris in summer is so hot that marathon runners are going to collapse.

Sounds like as is the water is regularly above the threshold for e-coli or whatever at the moment.

I would imagine this story has come out now in order to provide a push-along to whatever is their plan to improve the situation - basically it’s about having somewhere to temporarily hold all the rain water - that’s what the article mentions is the plan anyway.

Getting very little hype on T100 Singapore compared to T100 Miami (or 70.3 Oceanside for that matter).

Wonder if the series is already in a bit of trouble; they really need a couple of exciting, competitive races with good course/spectator optics.

Watching the women’s race on Eurosport right now.
Interesting seeing the draft system in operation. Lucy Buckingham got a bit too close to LCB on a descent, red light comes on and she stops peddling to drift back out again.
Crazy hot, think water temp was something like 30°.
