There’s going to be quite a lot of disappointed people and the problem with the Olympics is because places go to nation’s and athletes that have little chance of winning good athletes miss out by being from a competitive group.

Not surprised about Gwen, sport has moved on, she’s not got the swim-bike and run not as dominant as it was.

But thought Zafiras had posdibly done enough to get the nod over Kasper. Don’t see Kasper getting a medal, Zafiras had the potential in the right race.

Kasper was 5th at Yokohama which was their main selection race this year, so fair enough really

Ali B is supposed to be doing the T100 this week, and Gomez, might be a reasonable start time?

It’s about 14:00 Uk on Saturday, not sure how the route for T100 changes from the traditional ‘Escape from Alcatraz’, but it’s got to be more interesting than the speedway circuit in Miami….

My traditional Brownlee prediction: DNF.

Apparently it’s nothing to do with the original Alcatraz course it just has the same name, so it’s a bit of a daft one.

That’s a shitter would have been great to see them dive start off the ferry in SF bay, with the odd great white circling……

Oh and Brownlee running up the sand ladder would have been amusing too……

Watching Long practice from the beach on the tube of you

The leg distances, it favours swim bike doesn’t it, vs 70.3?

Wonder how they’ll choose to pace the 18km run. 2k swim and 80km bike I assume they’ll pace pretty much the same

Sorry if I’ve got it wrong, I was going off sources like GTN and TRIATHLETE a few months ago that made a big deal of it not using the traditional course :man_shrugging:t2:

Normally when he’s injury free he posts a few pics of him running in the run up to a race, but nothing there, and also in his Breakfast with Bob interview he seemed a bit coy and said generically that he was feeling good.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s there to meet his contractual obligations (and it’s an iconic swim) and he’ll quietly stop on the run and then say “yeah I’ve not been running but thought I’d give it a try”

Ruth Astle posted video of him running a day or two after the Gralloch

I see LCB has thrown her hat back in the ring with Ironman, IM France in a couple of weeks which validates Nice WC and supposedly 70.3 WC Taupo.

IM in full brag mode.

Not sure how she’ll fit it all in Sept - Dec though.

Also not sure about T100’s future, as I’m sure their plan was to lock athletes in with the contracts and keep them away from IM. They are always hit with loads of ‘last minute’ withdrawals as well, maybe it’s a way to fulfil the contract but give the racing a swerve.

That’s a proper gloomy looking day out there. Good to see a point to point cold choppy swim. Rather them than me.
