Pro race chat (Tri)

They were talking about options available to him regarding this on the ProTriNews podcast that was recorded Sunday night and released yesterday. The suggestion of getting a DSQ but this also meaning that he’d finished and validated I don’t think was mentioned… as it doesn’t make sense (at least to me)!

For anyone interested in watching. I’ll be dipping in and out through the day to see how The Lion and Skipper get on.

Poor swims for both and got overtaken by a couple of F-pro’s by the sound of things.

I’m guessing hyrox doesn’t improve your swimming :joy:

Probably make up some places on the bike and run though.

Skipper’s swim has never been great but it’s really gone to the dogs recently

He was getting a bit emotional in a pre race interview. Hes not quite at the level he’s been at in previous seasons

I can 100% confirm that as a FACT.

In theory it should help in real life it really doesn’t as my last sprint tri proved

I really do think it helps the bike though, run mehh?!

Lionel is making ground.

I actually think Joe may quit completely as he suggested he had previously considered. Looks like he’s stepped off the course now too? Was actually a bit concerned after the pre-race interview. He doesn’t look in a great place mentally. Had a feeling it may not go well today.

If he sticks it out I think he should give it a go under a coach. It’s not working currently for him.

I’d agree with that. He was so negative in that interview that you had to question where his head was at for today. With him choking up at the prospect of calling it a day it certainly seems like he’s considering it.

Apologies if this has been covered, but how is he competing for the US? Does he have some form of citizenship?

He has a US Pro license because he got pissed off with British Triathlon.

Get that, but don’t understand how he qualifies to race under their flag.

Had a very brief look at the AG stuff, and you had to be an American citizen or have an American passport.

I was bit surprise to see it but assume that’s why.

Sounds like Lionel has qualified for Kona after finishing third.

The winner did a 2:36 marathon! No room for anyone with a weak discipline these days and I can’t see Brownlee competing with a run like that these days, he’d probably be with them off the bike.

Hopefully he’ll see the other side now and reflect on bullying other pros when all is not going well for them.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

When has Joe skipper ever bullied other pro’s?

Real shame for Skipper, but something is not working for him at the moment
