Pro race chat (Tri)

Just caught up on the WTCS Finals in Woollongong.

Matt Hauser too the Men’s title; Lisa Tertsch the Women’s. Beth Potter was 16th and looked in bad shape at the end and taken off in a wheelchair - hope she’s OK.

I saw the result with Cassandra DNFing. I shall wait for the YouTube highlights.

I’ve watched three of the four Junior and U23 races from the event over the past couple of days. There’s been some superb racing and great attacks/breakaways/sprints etc. Really exciting stuff.

Yep - been some excellent racing.

Ollie Conway was a revelation in the U23’s with that stunning run after leading from T2 taking nearly 2 mins out of the next guy! Rarely ever see such a dominant win at these levels.

Jess Fullagar getting 4th in the Senior Women’s was good to see - she’s a superb biker. I was Chief TO at a Superseries event in Llanelli back in May when she was 4th out on the bike some time behind the leaders but came in to T2 some time ahead of next athlete and went on to win.

Anyone going to make a call on the 70.3WC next weekend, I think the bike course is pretty lumpy, at least 1000m so might favour any good climbers\descenders. Start list below and looks like LCB & Kat both starting, guessing Knibb will go hard on the bike again?

Ladies race is Saturday, men sunday, but unfortunately I might not get to see much as I’ll be away.

Knibb and the Norwegian who won it before his mum passed away and he fell apart.

Took me something like an hour to remember Gustav Iden’s name without searching.

Edit Gustav is saying top ten is realistic and thinks no one is in range of his proseries position. Training not good after IMWC.

70.3 WC, I remember when is was rumoured to be at Marbella , that has come round quick.

Women’s today, Men’s tomorrow, both start 6:50am UK time (I think)

Great start by Lucy but a huge chase pack behind her at the start of the bike.

Great stuff

Why bother with gloves and calf sleeves? Lost about a third of her advantage in T1

Unless there’s another Kona style meltdown it’s LCB or Knibb for the win and a small group for third, Findlay can run but I’d probably back Kat?

Great to see her finish, totally ecstatic. :united_kingdom:

Shame for Kat and Finlay but good moves from Neubert and GTB. Jess couldn’t hold on but a solid race.

Makes me want to race again

Course looked nice enough too…

4 Brits in the top 8 :flexed_biceps:

Proper course too, the gaps at the finish are huge for a 70.3
