Pro race chat (Tri)

Wilde does not come out of this well IMHO

The shoes were not race legal, he knew this, but he wore them anyway because he knew no one would check them

That explains the reported comments after the finish line… along the lines of “I take then off quick… (before) in case they check”

So why no DQ? or do the rules not apply if you win or your value is high to the race organisers?

Not a good look at all.

It was in Dalby Forest apparently? A mate goes mountain biking there quite regularly.

Yeah it was in Dalby Forest, I was there for the weekend (age group races Sat, elite Sun). Brutal course, 4 laps of 17.5 miles, each with 4 descents and 4 climbs between 1.5 and 2.5 miles long  (I’d had enough after 3 laps and DNFed)

GTB was very strong, leading solo for most of the race just getting reeled in and passed with 3 miles to go

There’s live coverage of the elite races on YouTube:

Not sure if this goes here now he’s a punter like the rest of us but Ali Brownlee is doing Patagonman in December

Also running up the Empire State Building in a week or two as well!

Not sure if it’s a personal challenge or he’s getting appearance money.

WTCS is returning to London next year alongside the T100 race

Yep - just reading that. Good to see us having a proper WT event in the UK again

Oh that’s good to see but Excel isn’t particularly exciting though is it? It looks pretty dull when they do the T100 - it ain’t no Hyde Park (or Leeds when they held it there). But…. there’s a race in this country so that’s all good.

Edit: I just saw in the news story that there’s no Pro T100 race. They’ll do the age group 100k and other (sprint/olympic/relay) distances. So just the pro WTCS race in London.

Ive raced London a lot in the past, and its one of the dullest courses out there, will be a wet run so set up for Alex! Will be able to get a decent number of spectators on the bike course, so depends how they take the pro run, around the docks like usual or back out onto the roads

T100 is doing well.

Even those that care about Tri do not care.

Watched it on the trainer and having breakfast fast forwarding.

1st - Waugh
1st - Wilde

Yeah I’m just not interested. A shame given the London is my local. I guess if it was more affordable and I raced it, I’d be more interested.

I quite like it, always watch the highlights and its good racing. But yeah, I’m very much in the minority.

Kate Waugh did an incredible performance.
