Well done to Kat though, pulled away from Haug at the end

Yeah and what a lovely, humble lady. :+1:t3:

Looks like Ruth Astle and Fenella all in the top 7 or so as well! Not sure where Siddall is. Plus LCB on the sidelines. Strong group of ladies. If only it wasn’t for that pesky Ryf.

Hahaa. I know it’s alcohol free, but you hear Braden Currie on the podium with their beers ‘Skull’. Then proceeds to down his pint :joy: ace. Love the kiwis.

Wurf 41 minutes off the pace. Ineos not doing his triathlon career too many favours

Yeah, his running had seemed to be progressing pre covid. Although still not to the level where he was truly going to compete against the very best. I will say from recent experience, any slight under preparation in run training / volume is going to get massively shown up on such a lumpy run course

I disagree. Everyone I know rounds down. The goal is to run under all those landmarks. Running 1:20:00 or 17:00 would both be failures. You need to run a 79:xx which would be sub80, which a lot of people refer to as 79.

If someone tells me they ran 1:47, I know that their precise time was 1:47:xx

And for the record I swam 30:** and biked 2:28:** to qualify at Staffs :relaxed:

I don’t follow the pros much and have given up watching their channel because it’s style over substance but was there a reason that Paula Findlay didn’t race?

Does she race full IM yet? I thought she just raced halves at the mo.

Could be, I get who does what mixed up these days. She’s certainly capable of going full IMO.

True that

I have run a 2:59:xx

The only problem is that the XX represents just under 400 seconds

just thinking again how Blu and the :lion: are incredible athletes.

Blu has a muscular build, he looks like the guy who delivered my fridge, but he can run as fast as or faster than any featherweight at the end of a tri.

Lionel runs with that unusual asymmetric style, but again, he covers that ground better than almost any one else with supposedly perfect form.

I don’t understand, but it was great to watch.

Crowie always had a great running style for a ‘bigger’ guy and McCormack was never a lightweight in pro terms.

Look at how ugly Cadel Evans was on a bike, he looked like a drunken spider monkey but winning is winning.

Blu has similar build to me, he’s clearly not super lean. For me and i am sure others, its really positive the the current best triathlete in the world looks like a normal person

Sounds right - ST said something huge like 90 starting. That number makes 49.

Could have sub 7 winner vs reigning IM/Olympic champ vs reigning Kona Champ vs reigning 70.3 champ……

That’s like Hagler vs Leonard vs Duran vs Hearns in one ring…:grinning:
