Dede Griesbauer is part of the commentary team normally and leading women into T2…good effort at 50!

Wow!

Coz swim is quick, it’s point to point with the tide, non wetsuit. Great fun, you spend most of it roaring along the coast like a speedboat, watching the reef and fish below, but there’s a couple of eddies where you barely make progress.

I was 7-8 mins quicker than normal.

Blu is risking it for a biscuit on the run by the looks, it’s hot and humid and run times are slow. VERY slow in my case after 19 miles….:face_vomiting:

Link to where I can watch it? Couldn’t find it on Ironman now on Facebook

Yeah same

I am just dipping in to the IM tracker app.

Is Blummenfelt about to smash the world record… tracker showing estimated finish time 7h16m

That would be utterly crazy

I need to see his running style after 32km :see_no_evil::rofl:

(But srsly not laughing at time :exploding_head:)

Gustav Iden who???

Yep, through halfway in 1:15 and a 6:01 race time. Fast swim or not, this is utterly ridiculous. No wonder he was so blasé about the sub7 challenge being “pretty easy”

Meanwhile in Lionel Sander’s house…

I think there’s a couple probably looking at their retirement plans or training plans if he holds this for another 14k

Looks like Dede has “imploded”

If you can call a 50yo implosion a 45min swim and 4:30 bike :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Bloody amazing :clap:t3::clap:t3::clap:t3:

Looks like the second half is starting to bite. Quite a substantial slow down from the previous splits. Apparently the mats are generally quite good at this race

Back to more human speeds :rofl::grin: 3:54/km

The live feed would be more telling I think :wink:

My explosion at Cozumel featured a couple of 17 minute miles :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Haha, yeah!
It’s a fair point. Whilst this slower split is effectively the same 4.2mile split as the opening segment, you never know if it could be a hit longer with the lap mat being a bit different location to the T2 exit mat.

Really disappointed that this wasnt being streamed, altho I do see why they did SA.

I saw the overall SA times… :exploding_head::scream:

…then checked out the splits.
Swim looks like it was significantly shortened.

Yeah 1.9km…looked a bit choppy 🤷

Why couldn’t they do both? It’s hardly ground breaking.!

Feels like this performance should be being watched by people, live.

Wild seemed to maintain pace, more or less, so does look like a slow down.

But…12 mins ahead, so not much to worry about.

Seems to have held pace over that split. And that segment was actually he slowest in the first half, so he’s actually sort of done “better” than might have been expected. Still on for a 2:35 which would be in the realms of 7:20
