My problem is my riding circle is small and we all know where we like to attack, although this does provide an opportunity for counter attacks

There was this “debate” the other week about “heavier” riders being at a disadvantage with rim brakes…
Anyway, there’s me and this guy (also ~90kg) who rode Pro-Am out in Dubai on rim brakes flying down every descent.
Someone pipes up “where’d you get your stones from?”

Added to that is a guy who’s dropped a fair bit of weight recently and had been doing 3 hour sessions at 250W on TrainerRoad…bragging about it…I’m like, there is no way on gods Green earth his turbo is calibrated correctly. As in - he’s not doing 250W for 3hrs - so I prove it to myself by taking him on every hill (he’s about 68kg now, so should’ve EASILY had me at 250W!!!)

This is the same dickwad that assumed it was ‘common knowledge’ that his wife wrote a study he and ST were promoting, even though she doesn’t share his last name.

He had a low 2.20s standalone marathon PB, is what I mean.
The 8 year (?) ban must have been hard for someone so involved in the sport. Not arguing against that though.

Absolutely, when I was trying to make it as a jump jockey I came across a real mix of arseholes and nice people. The bullies drove me out of the sport as that much conflict (I found taken a backward step or ignoring digs difficult in my youth) on a daily basis gets to you after a couple of years of it. But there were jockeys who were really nice guys too.
Also, people can be ‘horrible’ in and around the competition arena but nice away from it.

My old headmaster at school died in South America. He was a bossy busy body annoying type - he had a go at me once after morning assembly for nearly running me over when I was out running one afternoon. I expect he gave himself a coronary shouting at Brazilian kids to stop playing football in the streets
