Not trying challenge but was he really calling you out? I read his post as more innocent than that. Wouldn’t be the first time I’m naive to peoples true intentions though, but he seemed to be saying you could go faster.
Nobody minds being told that they’re underachieving by a complete stranger

I was seconded to work in the US and apart from that, I’ve been there 14 or 15 times if memory serves. So I’m well aware of how it ‘works’ but FMD, I can imagine if my barber in Oz asked for ‘where’s my 42% tip mate?’

If a hair cut for me is £9, (I haven’t been since lockdown!) I’m likely to give £10 and say keep the change but once that goes up to £10, I’m much less likely to then give a £ or so on top of that.
Plus of course, the lack of cash now makes the tip a much more deliberate action, rather than a casual handover of a note.

Ive had clippers since LD1 but grew it a bit and visited the Turkish Barber in the village before holiday. Does feel so much better but back to no.3 all over the no.2 back and sides, all done myself with random long bits left over i touch up for 2 days after

I can vastly reduce the appearance of white hairs with a #1 all over! Will probably take them on holiday for a touch-up midway.

I bought the worst rated clippers on Amazon for £18. Everyone said they were crap but that’s all that was left, and they’re still good enough for what I have left.

I pretty much just clean shave head last thing on a Fri night and it is a respectable no.1 by Mon. a.m. Don’t really care what it looks like at the weekend but don’t want to be totally smooth at work.
Ventured across for my once every 3 months look. Opened the thread where they’re amazed a former Olympic gold medallist can swim quicker than they can (as part of passing US military fitness tests). Didn’t get any further.
Seem to have come across that same belief multiple times - a complete lack of recognition of how bad most triathletes are in relation to Olympic swimmers.
