Gustav Iden’s AMA thread has resurrected with him posting a little in there. The things he had to deal with (forgetting nutrition, broken bottle cages, borrowed helmet, borrowed aero bars on his roadie etc. etc.) and still winning. Not bad for a B race.
Been following for past couple of days, Gustav Iden seems pretty down to earth. He doesn’t seem to be the most organised, but takes on whatever mishaps happen on the day and just deals with them.
Compare that with Ruedi Wild, who complained facebook that he retired due to dehydration because on the ride the water bottles they handed out wouldn’t stay in the bottle cages (they handed out regular bottles not bidons)
In that case, then surely you’d chug the water after the aid station and throw the bottle? I have an elastic retainer on my behind-the-saddle cage. Plus no issue if you use a BTA system of some kind.
This might come across the wrong way, but that also shows either off-season, or (understandably) how far she’s let her swimming slide to prioritise bike-run. That would have been an easy session for her 10 years ago, she’d have been capable of doing 100x100 off 1:15 send off.
