It was the guy who was calculating how to best cut courses to marathon age group World record times. He planned out where the timing mats were and calculated pace to get there and cut the course gettig several sub 3 marathons aged maybe late 60s I think.

Yeah but he did it for a world record time, so not just cheating himself. Not that he should have been hounded until he committed suicide.

He didn’t just ‘cut a course’. he made a career out of blatant cheating and taking legit AG champs from folks who did it legit and threatened to lawyer up on anyone that challenged him.

He was a Dr or something, so probably had a lot of reputation to protect.

I’m not a fan of ST but I don’t think they did the hounding directly, as the guy wasn’t on ST IIRC. The hounding was done by MI but having said that, like Julie Miller, it’s not like Derek doesn’t give them a chance to come clean.

I’ll give ST a pass on this one. Having said that, Empfield and his band of sycophantic band of followers should give themselves an uppercut.

i think they’d have to join the queue…

i led a race race once from start to T2…and found i was third with 2 bikes already racked…

not best pleased…i caught one guy but not the other and, because he was adamant he’d done the laps, they gave him the win…where was ST then???

Surprised Lets Run didn’t go after him as well, they just love it when they have “boots on the ground”

It was letsrun, a bizarre thread if ever I saw one. And a bizarre story, the guy had apparently built his career as a doctor/coach around fake marathon results, at some athletics college iirc. Had at least three helpers in his fakery, and a bicycle. Which is to say the extent of it, but not to warrant how it ended.

Yes that was the story. They bloody well did pile on with everyone else. Yes the guy had done wrong, but it was the worst kind if mob mentally pile on.

The worst part was it ended up in the papers he then killed himself and there was fuck all introspection from the ST lot, to the point of some horrid victim blaming. “He brought it on himself by cheating”, was the chant from them. They just could not accept that they had contributed to it.

I’m not defending the cheating, but the ST response was utterly appalling.

I don’t think the ST pile on moved the needle at all, certainly not in comparison to MI and LR.

I think you’re seeing demons in ST because you weren’t reading the MI and LR threads. ST, as far as running goes is miniscule. He did bring his suicide on himself, nobody else pushed him off the bridge, he did that all by himself. I don’t agree with pile on from LR in particular but this guy had help from others, where is their introspection?

But they are all part of the same problem. They were complicit in all of it. Whatever forum was the biggest witch hunter doesnt matter. They all piled on for a minor crime and drove someone to suicide. I dont know what the other forums said or did, I saw enough on ST and it was the worst of humanity on display there.

People make mistakes, but the virtual pitch forks and tiki torch marches ST are famous for have consequences. Whoever started it or was the worst at it STs fingerprints were all over it, and when it all went wrong they joined in with collective victim blaming.

Yes he jumped himself, no one pushed him, but no one is accusing ST, MI, or LR of murder. But they hounded someone for something in the grand scheme of things doesnt amount to a hill of beans and that person killed themselves.

They should all be smelling themselves and realising they stink.

I agree and don’t agree. I think it does matter who does the piling on because you can’t ignore the influence of those doing the piling. Hardly any runners go to ST, but. a shed load go to LR and MI and to me, that’s where the damage was done, as it’s most likely that the guy himself visited those.

So i agree with you that the ST behaviour was bad but I don’t agree it had any significant bearing.

Fair play. I didnt see the other forums, but I saw ST. If they weren’t the worst, they were involved, none of them can be excused. Its joint enterprise for all of them.

My bigger problem is the behaviour after the fact. The man kills himself and they cant see how their actions (and the similar actions of others) contributed.

Regardless someone lost their life over a trivial matter and that is tragic, whatever the cause.

Any way, I like you, and I am not going to descend into an argument over it. Some people did bad things and it went wrong, that we can all agree on i think.

All good here mate. I do agree about the behaviour after. Ignore ST anyway, every bastard on there has a 300w FTP and jogs in a sub 17min 5k just for fun, according to them.

Tune in in Nov 5th, 'cos if Trump wis the election, that place will fucking implode.

“I see the problem. It’s those six numbers after the dollar sign” :grinning:

You see the comment about naked pictures on the walls? And then match that comment to the actual pictures? :joy: That country has a serious cultural problem.

I really like the house though. Garage and pool envy

The house looks nice but as far as I can tell, it looks like a suburb that’s surrounded by more troubled and run down areas.
