I’ve got one of those BBA triathlon boxes but only used it on a flight so far. Hopefully they’ll continue to take it, KLM did want sizes but I doubt airports will check anything except weight.
If you’re flying with a bike box you usually have to take it to outsized luggage anyway
latest update on the bike transport problems US side here. Sounds like a right mess.
Am I reading that correctly - 40% of US IM competitors use TBT to ship their bikes to events and 25% say they “rely” on them and wouldn’t be able to get a bike to an event without them?
Frightening isn’t it.
It’s worded confusingly, not sure it’s that high but the ones I’ve been to they certainly had a lot of bikes there. I thought they hired them as well but maybe not.
Although Ironman put their hands in their own pockets for a couple of races, that’ll probably go back on race fees next year!
@Matthew_Spooner is attracting all the armchair coaches on sub 10 IMJ. Spoons needs their help
Coaching is all about building relationships, Raymundo might like to do some courses in that
I was feeling a bit bored so decided to have a go at winding up FB IM coaches
Coaches on IMJ really hate it when half decent triathletes disagree with their coaching approach
A decent coach would spark a debate, find out how its working for you, what made you come to that decision, how did big miles on the bike work out, not “you are wrong, i am the only one who can help”
I had a weird interaction with raymundo yesterday, he was having a pop at the kiwi coach guy about how Mondays are always rest days. I just asked "is there a physiological reason they must be mondays, and he started something about he knows best as he coaches 100s of athletes (he must be very generic then ) and some nonsense about ftp and Z1 isnt recovery. I just shuffled away at that point
You are exactly right
Bugger - that’s where I went wrong - always used to take Sundays as rest days
You’ve wasted your sporting career
He’s taken his reply down
Is it me, or is Raymond Botelho full of himself?
His blowhard posts seem to appear fairly regularly on my feed.
Yes on sub 10, claiming to be a top coach as well, but red flags like, i already knew it all in 96 or frequent posts about himself suggest grade A kn0b. Bet he gets lots of IMJ types who think they will end up as fast as him.
That jeremy macmamara is a proper t1t as well. Know it alls because they are slightly above avg losers.
Not seen any of him; for some reason FB only pushes Raymond Butthole posts my way.
Raymond is an utter dick
His recent post, having a rant about lack of sponsorship (I think)
“ESPN actually covered Triathlon, what happened? The spectators started taking up all of the sponsorship, the amateurs. Also the people in charge of marketing and sponsorship were giving all of the budgets out to their bros. The clicks of San Diego and Boulder. Things haven’t changed much.”
He is an ex pro with an IM PB of 8:45 - hardly earth shattering. He is totally unwilling to accept that there are variations in the best training plan for different athletes, his is the only way of training.
More Raymond Dick Comments
My comment is sure to piss him off. It really pisses me off that he is having a go at someone for doind an ultra race and implying that this is somehow lower than an Ironman. The guy would have to work really hard for my respect to get much lower
Simon Ward asked a general question; Botelho made it about Ironman
