That poster knows he can just export the file from his device manually, amend it, then manually upload it to strava? Basically turn off Auto Upload and go back to cables?

It’s an absolute piece of piss.

I’ve been meaning to do it on a ~40km “segment”, but just not got round to it yet. I want to piss a few people off - I’m gonna put my bike as my TT bike and FKW up :joy::roll_eyes:

This one is interesting and worrying if you are affected.

Oh dear, I wonder if they’ll have to shipping fees? I can’t see how they’d be considered an asset for the company in liquidation but obvs I’m no lawyer.

did they operate in the UK? I know of other bike transport co’s but not come across TBT in the UK

Not that I’m aware of.

It might be more to do with customs clearance.

I don’t think there are many/any left in the UK now. I looked into bike transport for Copenhagen next year and all the usual companies have either gone bust in the Covid years or have stopped services because of the Brexit admin.

There’s still a couple, one works with nirvana I think, the Irish company?

Not anymore as I understand it. I contacted both Nirvana and then them directly. They’ve stopped due to Brexit.

I keep getting emails from these guys, despite having never used them.

It sounds like a cowboy operation to me!

So you pay $750 to ship your bike to Spain and then you pay them extra for insurance, but they don’t go out to an underwriter and they “self insure”, so if the container falls off the ship into the ocean and all of the bikes are lost, you run the risk that they can’t pay out

From the shipper’s point of view, they’ve got an unpaid bill and they’re holding the cargo. I guess it depends on what their terms of business look like in the event of a default :man_shrugging:.

It’s a mess. I was amazed that someone said they paid them $650 or something! Bloody hell, can’t be that much extra to fly with your bike, can it?

I can see the convenience of not having to pack and unpack your bike and worry about getting the bike box to and from the airport. If you’re flying from the US to Europe you might want to tag on a bit more travel while you are there and not have the hassle of travelling around with a bike box.

The cost for that service seems very high though and it seems that even when it was working people were without their bikes for long periods of time while it was in transit.

That’s pretty much the reason I was considering it. From here, there’s at least two flights involved to go anywhere and with different sports luggage rules for each carrier it can be a bit of a ballache but I couldn’t find anyone that does bike transport anymore.

That’s how it all started but the cost was about $100 more than the extra it would have cost you to fly with it but that cost seems to be very very high now.

Off topic but I’m currently looking at freight transport. I can’t find any company that will transport a Bike Box Alan, as they all say the dimensions are too big (for the triathlon version), although they’d accept smaller bike boxes.

Not sure if you saw this company?

** I haven’t used them so no idea what they’re like.

I hadn’t, but tried asking for a quote and the BBA-tri is also flagging on there as too big.

will they not quote you for your slight exceedance ? I’ve seen the eastfit BBA’s at the airport before and thought those bits that stick out must be a right pain when loading up the plane.

Others won’t quote, I didn’t try continue with Jeff’s link to await their response. I’m probably going to stick the TT on plane and ship the roadie and clothes so I’ll be ok

My interest was as much that its a big flaw in the market several years behind the move to bigger boxes, as bikes become more integrated and harder to remove base bars.
