I shouldn’t laugh too hard, my mother is crazy and she’s a bit sceptical. She witnessed the 60s and 70s though, so it’s understandable to a degree.

An actual MP supporting anti 5G protestors

Tried to google more detail, didnt get much but in her defence order-order has her as not insane:

When confronted by the BBC, Wera claims she has finally conceded the masts are safe, however given “the widespread concern… [I] believe it may be worth applying a precautionary principle”. When Hobhouse says “widespread concern”, she means the total 300 objections from a city of 90,000 people…

Have a Google on Frome council and their views on this. That is bonkers!!! Real hippy, fairy land. I think they even supported sales of some USB thing that offered “protection” from it :joy::joy::joy::joy:

I lived through the 60s and 70s and not as unhinged as most of these conspiracy theorists

I’m just going to leave this one here and highlight one paragraph:

“That younger children appear to have a much lower incidence of coronavirus has been put down to their smaller stature, which enables them to avoid virus-laden aerosols from the coughs and sneezes of the older, taller population – including older, taller children.”

I live opposite a school.

Who ever wrote that … doesn’t.

The latest IMJ cringe fest is not give others nutritional advice… in case it leads to eating disorders !

Unless your a paid coach or a qualified nutritionalist …

I like IMJ, and this is not a dig at either profession, but what utter bollox.

Utter bullshit. Yes there is lots of crap nutrition advice on IMJ a lot comes from “coaches”. I don’t think a Pork pie would work for me on an IM (might be ok on an Ultra), however hearing about what works for different people is interesting. I would never take anything on blind faith. However, I would research it a bit more.

I was going to ask for his coaching credentials but only have access with my coach account so didn’t want to come across as a cock

I know someone who took a chicken wrap on the bike leg. and someone else who had a tomato sandwich in his special needs bag. but probably the best was the bloke at IMCH who, when he was in T1, opened a large jar of pickled dills and scoffed 2 of them - eh?

Midnightman i had cheese wraps the second time i did it. @Dallas who frequented TT1.0 was eating bacon sandwich walking to the swim and @veggieboy ate 2 cheese and onion pasties after the swim  midnight man is closer to ultra than normal ironman because of the time of day though

I’m not slating this fella, but July is a long way off and I don’t think he can defer this now…!

He’d be the first person in history to bail on an IM due to not swimming enough.

I think the issue with the IMJ types is they pay lipservice to the swim so always on a back foot and a couple months out probably is the end of the world. I on the other hand could rock up and do 3.8k after a year off. Might not be pretty but I’d still come out before half the field.

This is me. I wouldn’t beat half of the field but I’m a 1.20- 1.25 swimmer and I can take all the time in the world off and be back to my regular IM pace in about 4 weeks.

I know I could improve my swim by swimming more (duh!) but even in normal times, the family/work/rest pay off for doing that just isn’t worth it to me.

I’m like you but slower …

My 400 m pace is 2% faster than my Ironman pace.

It’s crap.

But 34min 70.3 and 1:10 full distance splits put me were I need to be, im concentrating on swimming easier, at the same pace, hopefully one day I’ll actually fall asleep !!
