The drinking club with a running problem.

I hashed from 1987 to about 2000, soon learned not to wear new shoes

It’s an ex-pat thing mainly, isn’t it?

I ran a couple of times with the Episkopi HHH while I was visiting family in Cyprus.

“A drinking club with a running problem”

It started as an ex-pat thing, but then the ex-pats came home and brought it back with them, it is now world wide.

The use of "this is my war" and the other self indulgent rhetoric displays a complete lack of consciousness. Dude you’re a Profamateur triathlete.

@joex - I see you  :telescope: (IMJ)

You just can’t help yourself can you!? :joy:

What the “any functioning road bike” comment? That’s pretty low level trolling if it counts at all

Saw this post this morning on IMUKJ, @joex also commented

“yeah swim for me is the weakest I did 90 mile bike ride in 4hrs and can ran my first marathon yesterday without training for it in 6hrs 21 mins I know with training I can get that down to under 5 hrs so hoping I’ve developed a baseline fitness to finish the Ironman as I’ve been putting it off since covid in 2020”

Isn’t a 6h21m Ironman a decent walking pace? One would hope that someone doing IMUK in 3 months would be fit enough to do that. Also seems to be leaving training until rather late, seems like a really big jump from walking an IM in training to doing a 3.8km swim a 180km bike then running an IM in sub 5 hours

Is that a standalone marathon? You’re referring to an IM marathon - maybe you haven’t copied over the full post. If it’s standalone, I’m going to guess a sub-5 IM marathon is a bit too aspirational. What do I know :woman_shrugging:t4:

Maybe I am being a little judgmental, but what annoys me is the phrase without training when the person is clearly a bit marginal. Its 3 months to IMUK, its a tough course, I think that training is a bit of a prerequisit.

I think its pretty safe to say that the person would be outside the cutoff is the race was today

Ah I didnt read those other comments.

1st Ironman, 1st triathlon, talks in terms of the farthest he’s done something…good luck to him. Lots of people will be in the same boat, and lots of DNFs. Sounds like he’ll make the cut off though.

Yeah, that’s always annoying. It’s like flaunting your ignorance.

Your recon? 90km bike in 4 hours… probably 9+ for 180k (Bolton not an easy bike route so potentialy much worse), followed by a 6h30m walk. He needs a sub 1h30 swim.

I had to read it twice - he’s said 90 miles in 4hrs.

Totally agree with you. I’m 100% part of the group that progressed from sprint to Olympic to half Ironman - didn’t go any further, I know my limits. Amazing how many people do just “wing it” though. Personally I’d hate to put my body through that pain.
