Quick question - gear

My TT Bike is still 10sp.

At what age is it ‘expected’ to be a luddite? I guess I’m above it

Do you have the Shimano front shifters you can turn to tension instead of indexing?

Easy enough to convert to 11sp :+1:t3:
Ultegra 6800
Front mech £20
Rear mech GS £50 Max
Chainset 52-36 £80 tops
Use a spare chain
Cost £150 :+1:t3:
Sell the 10sp stuff to offset the cost.
Looking at £100 max I’d say

You are … x2.

My 10 speed spares will last a lot longer than I will.

All chainsets are 11 speed though.

Yeah my TT bike is running SRAM Force 10 speed.

I’ve got a red FD in my spares box. I did have a RD but a club mates need was greater than mine. So flogged on the cheap

Been there!

My car is dead on the drive I’ll have a look what’s about and get back to you.

I might possibly have one to buy as I won a tt groupset 3? Weeks ago, the guy said would I just have the r2c shifters, fm and rear block he said “ he might” need the rear mech ?

He knocked a good chunk off so I was happy.

Yeah let me know. I’d only be replacing for the looks :+1:t2:

We all do that!

But why? how many gears does your average TT need? And @Jorgan has an old disc which might be a limiting factor, almost certainly add to the £100 switching fee.

All my bikes are 10 speed, and I don’t expect I will ever upgrade them.

Correct; an old pre-dimple Zipp 900. Light as a feather :+1:

Something like 13 ten speed and two 2 twelve speed in this house, no 11 speed here at all, not looking that likely to change for awhile.

EDIT - two of the 10 speed are actually in a different country on that country, so maybe don’t count.

Another 10 speed luddite here. Current Tiagra is still 10sp and works really well, supposedly better than 10sp 105 that came before it.

Piece of pie to make an 11sp cassette fit.
Did it with my Zipps :+1:t3:

10 speed on my training and TT bike

On a bonded-in disc hub? Only way I can see is to machine the freewheel body. Moot anyway as TT bike is Red 10.

Yes, I run an 11 speed cassette on my old HED tri-spoke.

Forget 10 speed a moment. Who’s still on tubs for races?

Pretty sure @Poet still is.

I was quite surprised to see a tub tucked up under a club mates saddle this morning. Not really common place now!

Yup. Im on tubular still. Zipps and PX

Tubs for all my races last year.

Wouldn’t use them for a 70.3 or full though.

Never had tubular wheels. Wouldn’t have a clue what I’m doing with them.
