I’ve registered for it, but if the weather is crap or I don’t have enough free passes to put in the distance it won’t bother me that much. I’ve got no desire to put in 100km+ Zwift rides just to get a virtual badge ![]()
In Lanzarote from 23rd to 30th Dec so may have a chance this year
The Zwift element took the shine off it for me.
It’s pretty much against the ethos of how it started - getting out there. Right?
I’m free from 28th, which gives me four days, so it’s a no from me.
I’ve never actually done it, either.
In “their” dates. I’ve done it a few days late and a few days early, then I was short by 60km when it snowed.
Good times!
73/500 on the virtual brevet card.
If I’m going to get close I’ll need to cheat on the turbo.
But, a slow slog down through the filthy lanes of Surrey, West Sussex and North East Hants
Puncture and zero food has got me raiding the cupboards and smashing down a beer ![]()
Gave my bike a quick clean, barely a damp rag compared to some of the car maniacs on here ![]()
Also made a start on the mudguards. The chain is looking a bit tatty though, not sure it’ll have long left but got a couple of other used ones to replace it.
I currently dont have a road worthy bike so inside for me unless I use a broken frame as I did at Swansea 70.3… to be fair, I made it round.
SkyNet tells me it’s achievable in 18.5hrs…
- Distance: 500 km
- Weight: 90 kg
- Power Output: 180 watts
Estimated Time and Energy
To estimate the time and energy expenditure, we need to know your average speed. Assuming a rough average speed based on the power output, let’s do some calculations.
- Speed Estimate: At 180 watts, an average cyclist can travel at around 25-30 km/h. Let’s take 27 km/h as an average.
- Time: 500 km / 27 km/h ≈ 18.5 hours of cycling
- Calories Burned: An average person burns about 9-10 calories per minute at 180 watts. Let’s calculate:
- 18.5 hours × 60 minutes/hour = 1110 minutes
- 1110 minutes × 9.5 calories/minute ≈ 10545 calories
Vaguely recall it being around 20 hours when I’ve done it in the past.
Might get closer than I expected if my leg doesn’t improve soon as I’ll stick to cycling.
32 km on the brevet card for 105/500
Nice ride through some quiet lanes - absolutely filthy though and really dense, wet fog.
Need to start getting some big rides in ![]()
16 virtual kilometres, I may be on the back foot here…
@joex - if you’re doing it. Lets go!!!
Moi?
30km in (all virtual) over two 30min spins.
Did parkrun Christmas Day.
Going to do 30km virtual tomorrow morning.
Should get up to 60km, leaving 440km over 4 days.
Despite not having done over and hour on my bike since October 6th, I might give it a go if it’s dry ish and warm ish.
I’m on 180k now after a double day.
Aiming to ride outside tomorrow but not sure how far.
193km in for me now, so pretty much bang on run-rate
I did 67km on the road today and the rest was on Zwift. Living where I do, anything under about 70km is all in traffic, so not a lot of fun. I’ll try to do a 100km+ ride on Sunday and the rest will probably be on Zwift
107.3 kms all virtual. So zero really.
WiFi repeater reset itself.
Cut me off.
Home signal isn’t strong enough to reach to the garage, so opened the door, which improved things….then the repeater rebooted and took over again, kicking me off.
Great. An hour of effing around for a 30min ride.
3 more km looking for a lost cat.
I don’t think my heart is in it Poet, might join a
Club ride at the weekend to get into triple figures but you go for it mate, virtual kms are ‘clean’ kms ![]()
Well, that’s it, isn’t it?
It’s a perfect to meaningless challenge.
Nobody else cares but you.
I like getting out (and failing!) it’s actually “challenging” just getting ready and planning routes that aren’t boring etc.
I hope you found the cat!
If only you had a 50GB phone plan…
Just clocked 6km round the local park with the eldest on his new bike and youngest on the back of mine. Seemed every dog owner in the county was there too.
Not sure I’ll be reaching 500!
Still, that’s more than I’ve managed to run in the festive period so far. ![]()
A little dongle…hmm…good thinking!
My Sonos has zero issues.
And is next to the Apple TV, iPad and iPhone.
