I’m considering my own challenge, HalfaRapha.
Will be tough given current fitness levels, but something to aim for

I’m doing the Napha. As is naff all outdoor cycling because it’s 57° N and 0°C.
Did I mention that most of my HalfaRafa will be done on the Wattbike at the gym?![]()
I’m not going to judge you, fella. Most of mine will probably be done on the sofa, eating mince pies. #500fail

In 2021 I managed a pre-Festive 500 in five days 20th-24th, finishing on 503km.
One of those rides was a 162km ride in 0degs. My front mech cable snapped and my seatpost kept slipping in my steel frame, good times!
in 2020, I did six days from 26th-31st, managing 440km.
Most days were like this:
MTFU ![]()
Meh, talk to the hand, did it twice before Zwift existed in North Yorkshire ![]()
And pretty sure I stopped at Suggitt’s for an ice cream ![]()
I was nailz back then ![]()

Until I fell off on black ice one year and damaged my knee ligaments ![]()
Have you done it without gaming the challenge?
My days.
Are you a journalist?
You’ve quoted me out of context there.
There’s a mahoosive wink after that.
And at the end of the post ![]()

But no.
I failed the year of the snow. That was the first year they allowed Zwift. But I refuse to accept that. So did it all outdoors. Was 60km short, as the snow was too poor to continue, could’ve quite easily jumped on Zwift and finished it off. But it was New Year’s Eve and I had something far more exciting to jump on ![]()
I think that’s what finished off my Hard Man Rides and turned me soft.

This is why we donated him to Lancashire, not hard enough to be a Yorkshireman ![]()

Aye. I know. I relented in 2023 and sank to the lows of Zwift as part of a post-Festive 500.
I went out yesterday and fell on black ice and knackered my knee, just like @jeffb
Is that hard enough?
Hope it heals soon ![]()
This is why I generally stay indoors now and the useless drivers.
Foolish enough! These days I’d rather do a couple of hours on Zwift rather than risk coming off on ice
I was on the gravel bike and doing Laureens Loop and just came a cropper on a right hand bend. I assumed I’d be reet in 42mm knobblies ![]()
Anyone considering doing it this year? Probably a no for me but will maybe get halfway.
The reality of having all three kids off school over that period is giving me little to zero chance I’d say.
Do turbo rides still count?
(My chain is still stuck in the wax, solid as a rock).
Looks like you can even use an ebike so every uber eats will be getting it ![]()
Virtual rides counted.
Chains solidified in a crock pot isn’t a legit excuse and detention will be the punishment ![]()
What!
It was a piss take with turbo rides but I get that covid drove that. E-bikes!! Just as well do it in a car
I’m sure some do, in a car that is, need another 160km, I’ll just pop up to Manchester kind of thing.
