yeah. couple of 6% climbs. The main climb only hits 4%
Looks perfect for what I want but only 90 athletesā¦! This yearā¦
At least itās not a draft fest like some racesā¦
Are you talking about the 140.6? Iām only looking at the 70.3.
Not sure what the entry limit is.
Iām looking at the full ā¦!
I thought it was toooo flat!
Plan to do deva and sundowner as the halfās next yearā¦
Looking for an early or late fast full distance race, as I want to do IMUK in July.
1382 m for the fullā¦
So similar to the halfā¦
I clocked 720M for the half Yorkshireman, I reckon about 1400 for the full due to the laps.
Although it didnāt feel like it.
More than half the climbing from yesterday on slightly poorer roads yet 40 minutes faster, but they are rolling hills rather than up then down. Was on my TT bike though and had a good day.
Jeff
Recommend the full Any crazy twisty 15 % descents!
Thatās what I really hateā¦
Donāt mind uphill⦠ish.
I would come for a ride round obviously ā¦!
I did Freebirds Olympic tri few years ago. Simple event, no sparkly extras or inspiring race feel but couldnāt fault their organisation; smooth day for my first tri, easy well marshalled route etc.
And @mungo Iād say course profile is pretty much as flat as youāll get for a full. Not the fastest road surfaces even by UK standards but not dreadful.
There was one dodgy corner on a descent when I had to do a bit of CX, but if you got chance to ride it youād know exactly where I meant, but I do have a habit of misjudging corners on descents!
Jeff
Ditto
Iām slow downhill but getting better, equpt changes and practice helped this year but Iām never going to be Tour de France standard.
Itās three laps and ā rolling ā has to be better than IMUK.
Cheers!
In my experience, you definitely want some ārollingā on a Full distance. Hamburg with only 408m was relentless. Iād say the sweet-spot for a Full is 800-1300m if you want a fast course. Road quality notwithstanding. Outlaw is a good profile, itās just the surfaces & traffic that spoil it.
Slightly tempted to try the Staffs/Weymouth double next year to try and get AWA for a Full in '21. Not sure two 70.3s would net me enough points though? (unless I was right up there!)
I would of thought that would get you enough points for silver?
Might do Staffs as well if thereās a few doing it.
Jeff
Yes whenever Staffs opens Iām going to enter.
Site still saying opening soonā¦
I got silver last year, and wasnāt far off gold, but that was from 2x 70.3 and 1x full.
Iām currently in a bronze slot for the current year, with 2x 70.3, and neither of them were great points hauls (poor relative performance in Elsinore, stellar field in Nice), so it shows itās possible given the points are all based on time differential to AG winner. Whether I stay in bronze by the end of the calendar year is another matter. Currently 2,267 people have an AWA status in my AG, and I rank 1,425. So there would need to be another 800ish people race in the final quarter of the year and overtake me on points to slip out.
Ultimately, itās not exactly a big deal. The āperksā are minor.
Well yes. You do get priority entry to some events donāt you? A friend of mine did two 70.3 last year. Was 5th in AG at Weymouth and Iām fairly sure he was silver this year
Like you say doesnāt really matter just a bit of loyalty club willy waving really
Next year, I really want my āmainā event (experience) to be non-Tri like last year. What that will be is TBD, but Iām guessing some kind of long distance ride, Quadrathon or Swim/Run. Iām not Matt, so I canāt tick them all off in a season
Iād quite like to do Coast-to-coast in a day again but the logistics are horrible.
Iāve lived in Robin Hoods Bay, Fylingthorpe and my parents now live in Whitby; so logistics are easy for me
Defo hovering over the enter button for Staffsā¦full IM probably wonāt happen in 2020 now.
If I can repeat my 113 performance at Staffs, Iāll have staved off aging for another year and be a happy bunny
