taht’s cool if you are happy to share
When el nino ran at B&BH those drills (not the butt kicks) were the regular warm up (along with a few others). Would like to see if it gives other drills for people with other areas of improvement.
@explorerJC I have remember being told by someone that butt kicks are not a great drill as the back lift is proportionate to the drive, and as a result of the elasticity/fascia or something. Is that a BTF coach ed thing or a real thing
Looks interesting
I have often wondered if because running speed is simply stride length times cadence, whether a proxy for form could just be anything that increased stride length without decreasing cadence, or vice versa?
Efficiency should matter though.
Not nearly as embarrassing as the treadmill clip I shared years back with you - what was I thinking? Don’t think my form has changed, but I wear clothes that fit now…mostly. I need to step up to XL shorts.
In Ochy you see all the angles changing through the clip and apparently coaches can zoom in on specific parts.
Do we not think we’re over complicating something that humans have done since we could stand up straight ![]()
Essentially running more, consistently and at varying intensity will bring results.
Paula had a terrible running style to look at but didn’t stop her from running fast.
Or we can all try the POSE method ![]()
Let me introduce you to the Internet…
But what is ‘tempo’ pace…

you look like you just robbed the local corner shop of a kitkat and being chased ![]()
yep, there’s a lot of dogma
Butt kicks - which shouldn’t quite kick the butt - are a purposeful drill for firing the hamstrings, and even better for initiating running.
They have been replaced in folklore by heel lifts in the slightly misguided coaching that knee drive is the preferred development need. They are different drills for different purposes…
There is some sense in that over enthusiastic heel flicks can (and do) strain hamstrings…and that recovery is a fast action…(there is also the claim that you don’t want your knee pointing down…but hey ho)…
who knows…
no she didn’t…well worth watching her run…
quite a good dynamic warm up at the least then.
i can post that if you like???
yes…we invented running shoes, fashion shoes, chairs, cars, car seats, sofas….
very…but also the best drill for iniating running…
I love that clip and for some reason it brings to mind the Benny Hill Show from years ago.
Totally expect to see a traffic warden, a nurse, a policeman and a jealous husband chasing after you, not necessarily in that order.
AI do your worst ![]()
I though this was going to be a break into the house or van video.
Can you upload a reversed video and see what it makes of that? I often feel like I am running backwards ![]()
