Running Form Analysis App

You dont seem to be over striding on the first half of the clip imo.
If there is any over striding its the last two strides of the left leg (closest the camera), particularly the last few frames before going out of shot… the right seems okay throughout.

Can you remember if you started to slow or accelerate when you though you were out of camera shot, because those last few strides look very different to me.

Anyway, good stuff. I am not brave enough to put my old man shuffle on youtube.

A colleague at work was once out on a lunch time walk and we passed when I was on a run. They said “I wondered if it was you, but you looked like a little old lady jogging” I was doing ~ 4:00/km at the time ( it was Z x 400m reps)

You can fuck right off  my threshold is your marathon pace!

But yes, I have very little shame. Or pride. :scream::sweat_smile:

We’ve swam for a few billion years longer than that so I guess you’ve mastered that by now too?

Need sleep… lol and to be able to swim.

what is over striding?

Any thoughts?

Yes, a few, but i need to put it in my app to get better slowmo images…and the app is on my iPad…and my iPad is at home…and i am at the airport…

Main observations are:

  1. The camera is a long way off. it looks like one of thosr ITV crime dramas where they are piecing together somebody’s last movements and they chance upon some random cctv video…
  2. the fence needs more creosote…
  3. Either the mic was very good our your shoes are very loud or you strike the ground quite hard…
  4. You seem to be ‘working hard’ which might lead me to think that you are not as efficient as you might be….that doesn’t mean that you are flat out, just that there is effort that might not be reprersented by pace…
  5. I am surprised that you only send in one video…without front and back vids, the app may recommend adjustments that the athlete then needs to unravel…a bit like a ‘quick fix’ change to hand entry in swimming before discovering there are greater fundamental flaws…

What is interesting is that the data says your knee angles are good iirc…but that you are over striding (a term i still don’t really approve of)…they can’t have it both ways. My recomendation is to tell them to make their minds up…

The term you dont really approve of.

Yes, zoom fly 6

Uploaded a jogging one too. Will upload more over time.

What app do you use?

How he didn’t realise that was coming is beyond me. It would be interesting to know what the app thinks is the correct place for the foot to land relative to centre of mass.

So it is a bit off. The logging summary shows over stride but the detail doesn’t, the Tempo show no over stride but in the detail does. I’m guessing it’s because I’m on the cusp and it’s the “third thing” to work on.

Jogging

Tempo

I don’t know, the threads about the app and so far it seems pretty cool to me.

It doesn’t look like I have an massive issues so far apart from the crappy arms - the 20kg subdermal weight vest is still the main issue.

Based on those images/text alone I would sack it

dont hold back, give a frank opinion

With the size of my torso, im sure the centre of gravity is a bit further forward than for most, ahem, athletes

From an educational perspective, you could actually ask them what they mean by over striding.

I asked AI, it said Manboobs, that is harsh imo :grimacing:

Who?

I knew exactly the response. We have discussed it before, and I tend to agree.
