Salazar

Yeah, because there have never been any high profile Caucasians busted or accused.

Nice mixed metaphor :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I thought the same. I was reading and all I could think of was that someone who wore a brightly coloured jersey a fair bit in July used that exact language for many years.

Most famously, but marion jones, justin gatlin and plenty others have all repeatedly defended themselves that they test clean therefore its scandalous that people question them.

Meh the likes of Sean Ingle and Dan Roan are just after an easy click bait story. It’s not as though Farah is suddenly going to confess all under their withering questioning is it (not that I’m saying he has anything to confess to!)

His coach ran a systemic doping programme, verified by several whistleblowers. It is unbelievable naive to suggest Farah was unaware of the shoddy practices, or reputational impact.

Screams of Armstrong and Michele Ferrari in the late 90’s.

Read through this, interesting run through of the history

That’s a good read, whilst all circumstantial I can only come away with one view.
As already mentioned, the similarities with the downfall of Armstrong are clear. Every time someone says they’ve never failed a drug test it has exactly the opposite effect. If you asked someone if they drink and drive, i think they’d answer no I’d never do that. If they answered, well I’ve never failed a breathalyser you might raise an eyebrow.

Despite his Knighthood and Olympic Golds, it doesn’t feel like Farah is the sporting icon Armstrong is/was. Farah is keeping his head down too; wisely. I just don’t feel this ā€˜stains’ his image to the general public, unless a smoking gun emerges and he’s sanctioned. The system awarded him a Knighthood during all this…

Until there’s a ā€˜Landis moment’ he’ll remain Sir Mo.

That’s a pretty character assassination.

I agree, a lot of that has been known for ages. People aren’t really interested though. No one wants their heroes tarnished. Look at slowtwitch and Armstrong, so much cognitive dissonance, so many old team mates making confessions but they still wouldn’t have it.

…Sir Jimmy ring any bells?
Fred the Shred and Jimmy Crosby?
MUGABE!!
MUSSOLINI!

Not sure ā€œthe systemā€ is the best judge of character

Only skimread it, anyone else rushed out and bought L-Carnitine :joy:

I’m fairly sure it’s further up on this thread, but I did! Just the tablets though. As an amino acid, that’s no different to beta alanine supplements. It was infusing for fast track gains that was illegal in their case. The likelihood is I’m also not getting any absorption as I’m not doing the high carb mix taken with the tablets (I just have them after morning porridge) but I thought it was worth a go, even though via tablets the research said it took 6 months for any benefit (hence why salazar was looking for a faster effect via infusion).

I know a number of you will be much more informed than me on this topic.

Looks like there’s potentially some more information coming out on Panorama tonight. Lots of people ā€˜forgetting’ lots of stuff:

It all just looks very dodgy; people ā€˜forgetting’ stuff. We need another Floyd Landis moment here.

I worked in investigations for years and this whole ā€œforgetfulā€ thing makes me laugh.
I can’t remember how many red cars I passed on the way to work this morning or which traffic lights I stopped at because they’re insignificant things that happen every day. If a red car cut me up and ran me off the road or I sailed through red light and caused an accident I would remember that vividly.
Human nature is to avoid lying if possible so saying you can’t remember or don’t recall is a lesser lie than telling a point blank falsehood.
It was explained to me once as a child answering the door and shouting ā€œDad, it’s the ugly fat man from next doorā€ You tell the child they mustn’t say that so they don’t say ā€œIt’s the good looking thin manā€ the next time, they just avoid the dodgy bit.

Generally speaking, it’s tricky. Getting people to tell their truth, yes but also getting people to register your truth. Essentially, guilty or innocent, there is pretty much only downside to talking to investigators which is why criminal law allows for silence.

That said, this is like a comedy script:
ā€œHave you ever taken L-carnitine?ā€
No
ā€œHave you ever taken L-carnitine?ā€
No
ā€œHave you ever taken L-carnitine?ā€
No, never. Stop having a laugh mate.
ā€œHave you ever taken L-carnitine?ā€
No
…
ā€œHave you ever been in a hotel room and had three people watch while your doctor injected you with L-carnitine, four times?ā€
No, never
…

…
Oh wait, that? Yeah. Why, does that count?

to be honest, i’ve given up worrying about athletes - they are beyond hope…

but the administrators…and doctors…are way out of their depth…sack the lot…and take away their pensions and bonuses…
