School me on Zwift

Maybe Zwift is secretly mining Bitcoin in the background and its shit graphics, UI and gameplay are merely a clever front for a lucrative crypto gang.

Anyone else just had 2 emails from Zwift saying they’ve climbed ADZ & another saying you’ve got the Tron?

Despite doing both months ago!

I got the new route badge today just going into the pen :person_shrugging:

Maybe you’ve got a second Tron now :grimacing:

If I had an Instagram account and posted it, most people wouldn’t know what the hell a Zwift was

problem is , any game dev worth employing will want to work on AAA games, not some niche cycling thing, unless they are a cyclist. You also have “Jon” the guy that originally wrote it in his bedroom and he’s so hung up on his own custom game engine they wont change it. Look at RGT for example, written on Unity and easy to add to once they have their resources , and most kids can use unity with a few hours messing around.

Is RGT worth a try? I sacked off Zwift and will never return (UI, graphics, bugs etc). But I’m tempted to try another platform.

I was finding that bridging my devices across to the Apple TV with the companion app was a bit hit or miss so bought the Viiiiva HRM.

As with everything it seems to be working fine…until it refuses to.

yes, most of it is free also!, Graphics much more realistic, group mechanics better, and it slows you down for corners so no “zwift” 100kph mountain descents. The premium features (only £6.99 a month) are worth the extra but not essential to ride and race

I finally managed to get enough tools and stuff to fit my new pedals yesterday. Haven’t had time to use them properly, but did quickly calibrate them and check that the ipad and Zwift were reading them.

I did notice however that when i selected the pedals to be the source of power and cadence, the ‘controllable’ turbo option didn’t find the Flux-S. When i have used the Flux as the power source in the past, it then ‘auto fills’ the controllable option at the same time.

Do i have to do anything in particular to allow the 2 devices to work together?

@Doonhamer you’ve just recently set yours up haven’t you?

Yeah it’s a pain in the arse. I have to do the same on my pedals.

Select your trainer as the power source

Make sure it’s then picked up as the FEC

Then… change your power/cadence back to the pedals…

Have to do this every ride. Happened at the end of last year after an update. Message boards went mental, no idea why Zwift haven’t fixed it

Thanks! :+1:

I hope that @Adam has helped you out as I think my ATV set up might be different  .

We’ve got a crappy treadmill that my daughter uses everyday. It smells of burning rubber and is about to die I think. Was thinking of replacing it with something much better we can all use.

A lot say they work with zwift but im confused about what that means. Do any of them change gradient based on zwift like smart trainers or is it just they transmit speed. I.e. do they do anything that a foot pod doesnt already do?

I thought hardly any worked “with” zwift… and Im not sure anything changes gradient…
Think this confirms that.

I put a https://npe-inc.com/runn-smart-treadmill-sensor-2/ on mine - which I believe is pretty accurate based on how it works. It also matches the treadmill speed which is nice. I never quite understood how the footpods could be as accurate; and as there would be at least 2 of us using the treadmill this seemed like a better solution.

It however can be a pain getting it connected. Its not always the clearest and even when connected sometimes it doesn’t transmit. But when its going; its been flawless.

I need one of those, if it could electrocute me every time I go near the fridge, even better!

I have a Zwift footpod and don’t think it is accurate.
I tend to trust the treadmill display more, based on what running at those speeds IRL feels like.

Say my treadmill matches the Runn sensor VERY accurately. Only slight issue is when its getting up to speed - esp as I’ve only got sensor stickers on just over half of the belt.
I don’t trust either tho cause its WAY to hard
