School me on Zwift

I read somewhere that there were rumours of a collab or buyout. Eric Min hanging around the TR business base or something.

Did you get the survey a while back?
About taking training plans outdoors by adding the ability to download to your device?

With the added cost :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::exploding_head:

£13pcm is expensive enough, without adding more on top.

Compared to alot of other training stuff - I still see this as somewhat of a bargain.
1 swim session hardly any change from £5 at the pool, and exactly £5 at lake.
Club TT £3 a go on an open road. £13 for that track one I did.

@gingerbongo doesnt even get a days commuting for the price of a monthly zwift subscription.

£13 for 24/7 accessibility, races almost on tap + other stuff I don’t use. Sign me up… oh already am

I do remember some of the ATV upgrades on Zwift were a little behind everyone else, maybe a day or so. It happened like that a couple of times but I could use the old version.

I pay £32pcm at the gym. Which is unlimited classes, swimming, watt bikes, C2 rowers, weights, treadmills, weights, a whole CrossFit studio thing, etc etc.
That’s value for money.

TTs are now ridiculously expensive.
I pay £5 as my club don’t run any.
So there’s a levy.

OW swimming can be free for me.
Pickmere is decent.
Otherwise it’s £6 for supervised sessions.
Which is also ridiculous.
And that’s part of the reason every OW session last year was 4km :see_no_evil:

So…monthly costs as below.
Maintenance is roughly what I spend on new chains, cassettes, cables and tyres for three bikes per year.
Kit includes new shoes and kit for all three sports.
Nutrition generally is only in the 3-6 months leading into an event.
I’ve put 8 TTs down and 12 OW swimming sessions.

Gym £32
Zwift £13
TrainingPeaks £10
Maintenance £20
Kit £60
Nutrition £10
TTs and OW swimming £10
Sprint Tri season opener £4
70.3 warm up event £16
Ironman™️ £48
Autumn 10k loosener £2
Autumn Half Marathon £3

£230 per month :exploding_head::shushing_face:

£720 on kit p.a

New wetsuit every three years at £300.
That’s £100 per year.

New cycling shoes every three years at £240.
That’s £80 per year.

Cleats £20
Two pairs of trainers £300
Two pairs of socks £30
New pair of running shorts £20
New cap £20
Full new cycling kit £150

That’s £720 per annum
Obviously the funds can be shifted from bit to bit, but I reckon that’s about the cost of it

Haven’t used Zwift in a while, quite a large update. Graphics are still as shit as ever, but what the hell is it doing

That’s on a pretty powerful gaming laptop. Must be unuseable almost on shit machines

I’ve often noticed how resource hungry it is….

I suspect they’re caught in that nasty trap of needing to do a fairly fundamental rewrite to fix their scaling issues, while having huge pressure to add features…… that’ll be fun for their head of dev…. :joy:

The new map Neyoko is essentially CPU throttled for practically everyone and gets much much worse in a group. Zwift is almost entirely single thread clock speed dependent and doesn’t seem to use multiple cores/threads very well.

Did I mention works well on an Apple TV

If you’re happy with the limitations of ATV then yes. It might say 4k but it’s basic level of detail and low frame rate. My ageing PC with a cheap graphic card runs at medium detail and a £100 GPU allows ultra.

You sound far more techy than me @Jgav, but I am just happy that it connects quickly and simply, and the frame rate and detail seems much better that what I had before (rubbish old laptop)

It uses so much of everything, CPU, GPU, RAM with little output. Its using as much as Flight Sim 2020 and that has amazing graphics, much more advanced physic engine and multiple external inputs. Zwift need to hire some game developers

I’m normally bleeding from my eyes to be able to tell :grimacing:

I ran Zwift on an iPad mini for the first 12 months that I was on it. I switched to a 12.9" iPad Pro last year and it was like Zwifting on IMAX

I’m not too fussed about the quality of the background graphics when I’m Zwifting - I’m too busy concentrating on my numbers and my screaming legs  . I only spotted the bear on Titans Grove for the first time last week

Yeah, the iPad I use is that old and slow it’s fine for limited ability

I should really go back to using the laptop which was old and slow, like me
