It doesn’t work great for a tester TRO, not really used to big spikes and I also get the lack of feedback on the climbs as I use my Wattbike. But it’s a bit of fun and a decent workout, and the fact that I’m doing a few little sprints here and there is probably decent training.
Its worth experimenting, I think that the cobble climb is 6% for a couple of hundred metres, followed by the rollers, if you are on 808s you need to go really hard up that section and hope to recover after. Not done it for a while, but would take Emonda with Zipp 454s or S5 with Enve 3.4
The Tarmac Pro is the fastest climbing frame apparently w/Enve 3.4s according to Zwift Insider. Unless you have the Lightweight wheels.
Was going to say is it not worth trying the Tarmac over the Emonda?!
Agreed. Was surprised to read Matt was using the Emonda when the Tarmac Pro is always stated the fastest climbing frame in the game
Also I didn’t think anything was faster than 808s on the flat until you’re level 31 and the Enve 8.9s become available
All of that and they don’t weigh 40kg like those zwift dudes
Oops, so I could be climbing the Alpe even faster. I think I have the Tarmac in my garage
Zwift Power does a great job of taking these out. I used to moan about it until I got to the front, then realised that majority are there fair and square. Sometimes I have a peak at their Strava profile, just to make sure that they look like they weigh roughly the same as their photos and power looks consitent with their Zwift numbers
I’ve decided that the TT bike is ‘my thing’. Stuff this drafting lark, I’ll save save that for racing IRL.
I think I’m on 2.8m drops, gonna wait until I hit Lvl 32 and get the Bollide with disc/808 and haul that fucker up Four Horseman.
When they first appeared last year and were beaten by amateurs it was all about how good the geeks were, bottom line is do they really care. It’s a way to keep fit and put some work in. I will say most of the geeks are running high end gaming rigs and that small difference to a bloke on a shit internet connection and laptop is actually huge. if it takes a second for the PC to react and send data upstream you could already have lost that wheel. same downstream you might not see the move until its too late
That’s good to hear.
So who on here will be first to optimise their Zwift performance by investing in a pair of Nike’s new indoor-specific cycling shoes?
@Poet has Nike on speed dial
‘Racers’ ?
I’ve switched them out with Farrow and Ball/Karndean now
Nike have @Poet on speed dial
Nike have Poet on a dartboard
I’ve raced the Brownless, once against Johnny (a Harrogate group ride with ‘after party’) and once against the Brownlees in a Crit City Race. In the first Johnny missed the break off the front and couldn;t catch back.
Crit City made me laugh. They Av’d 5.5 and 5.7wkg for the race and came 7th. Just sat in, and sprinted past them at the end. Thank you very much!
One other problem with the roadie pros is a lot of them just can’t sprint. There are a lot of even B cat riders on Zwift who cane turn a higher wkg for 15sec than a lot of diesel engine/endurance pro riders without the fast twitch. And that’s the name of the game in Zwift. Unless you’re in a TT or going up a long climb, you work the draft and save yourself for attacks and the finishing sprint.
Riding for 200k dragging a sprinter or doing a stage race is very different to an hour with sprint at the end.
Think Cav used to top out about 1600watts iirc
