Strava

Article here by someone who ditched tracking & prefers it.
I don’t see it like that, but interesting to see different perspectives.

She’s never going to maximise her potential if she doesn’t give 110% to The Apps

It’s just #ScienceFacts :woman_shrugging:t4:

One and done. Who cares what she thinks/feels!

Recording may become a bit obsessive for newbies, checking their HR every ten paces etc. but after a while it should be just a button press at the start and forget about the watch until you’re done.

Remembering to ‘smell the flowers’ in life is likely a bigger issue for her than merely when running.

Its like the Ac school of sport, so bent up taking lactate and logging sleep patterns you forget to just sleep, get up, run and go to bed. its not the measuring , its the person taking it all way too seriously

Anyone else on premium just been informed of a price rise? TBF they’ve held the price for a long time.

I reverified for the student price so still excellent value for me. I do use the suggested route downloads when I’m away.

I’m on a 2 month trial but never paid for Strava as I don’t see the point.

Yeah, TP does all my stats.
Although I’m not using it now.

I really don’t see the point in paid strava :person_shrugging:t3:
They’ve got all of your data to sell, what more do they want?

I’m not sure the local folk quite get Strava

(this is on a flat section of road, not the descent of the Tourmalet)

I’m thinking we could get some relevant anagrams out of the 100kph first placed dude.

This is a guy in my club. Apparently had to get off and walk at one point because of a headwind but did manage this cycling in the other direction.

Maybe it’s just me, but I find it really satisfying when my Strava challenges reset to zero at the start of each month and I start accumulating distance again :man_shrugging:

When your distances are at zero at the end of the month, you start to lose the satisfaction. :pensive:

Do people even bother with them?
A few from my club still go segment hunting like it’s 2012 still.

It’s so cute that they actually try for them.

I just amend a few GPX files manually to get the KoM :joy::roll_eyes:

Yeah, gave up on them about 5 years ago when e-bikes came along and got sick of flagging runs done on bikes etc.

I am currently in the mindset that I need to do equal or more by the end of the month though which isn’t helping!

Edit: but I actually still like Strava, training metrics aren’t bad and I do like the routes facilities.

Stopped uploading or looking or anything, once they instituted the max 15 uploads per day, doesn’t match my use cases, so now I upload nowhere public.

I have to ask…what use case is this?!

I record more things than I want to go automatically to strava, so I couldn’t auto-sync, but I don’t upload stuff from my watch manually often enough.

And no autosync to “private” and then choose to show doesn’t work either, as I have no interest going through each one…

I guess I was intrigued to know what sort of things you’re recording that equates to more than 15 things per day?
